Was looking for La Cocinita, which apparently no longer exists. But I was hungry and decided to give it a go. Interior is very strange and covered in pink things, and the ceiling and walls are covered with hanging pink plastic flowers. Doesn't seem sanitary, in my opinion, and a weird vibe for a mostly Mexican place.
Ordered the Chicken Enchiladas with 2 eggs over easy. Asked for Xmas chile, but they were out of red. At 10 am. How are you out of red chile so early?? Took the food to go to eat at work. Service was fairly quick, at least, but I was the only one there. Despite the place being empty, the floor was visibly dirty, as were most of the booths and counters.
The food looked good at first glance, and the rice and beans and tortillas in the enchiladas were actually fine, but nothing special. The eggs were luckily done decently, but the green chile was sparse and almost flavorless. Maybe their red is better? But, unfortunately, the chicken was clearly precooked or recently thawed from frozen and then microwaved. It was cut into tough, dry, yellowish cubes, and not good at all, or worth the risk of eating! There wasn't much of it anyway, but at $13.50 with tax, this made the dish a waste of my money and theirs.
Overall, it was not great. They have a lot of items on their menu, so maybe other things are better. Perhaps Birria is the way to go here (unless the consomé makes you sick, like another reviewer). Regardless, I won't be back. There are similar options available at nearby restaurants that are much better quality food, and a...
Read moreWalked in for the first time on Friday for lunch. My wife and I walked up to the counter and only one menu screen was on. Out of three. And on that screen it offering chipotle like menu. Always really didn’t want that. So we asked if they sell tacos. And they said of course, and we asked what kind of tacos do they sell. And if they had them on a menu somewhere, and she said no. Then a lady came in from the back. And turned on the rest of the menu. But it still does not list, a taco menu. Short and long of it is we had Dorito nachos total fail gas station food I had two tacos three dollars apiece not bad and my wife had some kind of rice and bean bowl with the pineapple in it and she was satisfied with that. Cost $23. How do you feel like it was up there? I gave it a seven out of 10 for food. Maybe it is just us restaurant they have lots of other locations. Maybe we can try them...
Read moreFood isn't horrible. It isn't amazing either. I get it because its convenient and near my job. They open at 9 a.m. Had no customers and it still took 30 minutes to get a burrito. If you're in a pinch, order elsewhere. Stripes just down the road is of similar quality but they've hired enough people to prevent this inconvenience. I recommend that the owner update the ordering settings on toast to reflect actual business hours and that he or she hires more staff or has the openers begin opening sooner because there is no logical reason it should take 30 minutes for a...
