I dont know what happened but i think management changed or the corporation did overall but this place is going down hill. We always come on weekends and its packed but we were surprised to find that it was actually not very full today. We then found out why. They charge you a lot of money for having steak, shrimp, and ribs which is fine but there was at least 7 people waiting in line to get a steak and they only had three on the whole grill!! Most of the other popular food trays were empty as well. This was never the case back then and I'm sure its to piss off customers so they get tired of waiting and get the cheaper ones. They even had trays filled with the cheaper breakfast stuff instead of putting out the food we are paying for! The service is also gotten pretty bad. Our waitress was yelling across the restaurant to talk to other waitresses and only came by once in the whole time we were there. Like i said, they weren't even as busy as they used to. The food was good enough for me to give it 2 stars instead of one, but Im not sure we will be coming back.
Update: We tried to give this place another chance but we just recently went and it got worse. We went on a Sunday and were charged for dinner but the only dinner option we saw was the steak. Read moreIt's been over 10 years since eating at GCB&G and the location has been updated and the food remains good. I can't complain too terribly much about the food as there was a wide range of choices. However, the labels on said choices were way off, for example, the dinner rolls were labeled as jalapeno cornbread, which would have been delicious if it was on the table. Several things had labels, but didn't match up or there was no label at all. That doesn't help anyone who may have dietary restrictions. Labels could use some work.
Plenty of options to sit, plates readily available, service was good and staff was friendly. Hot food was hot, cold options were chilled. Tables were cleared in a timely manner and drinks were filled promptly.
One of my biggest complaints are for the card machines- for the love of your business- please update those. They look like they have been through hell and I felt awful for the front staff having to make excuses for the janky machines. Finagling with cords and wires just to get it to read cards. It shouldn't take roughly 8 minutes of messing with the machine to get it to work. We felt bad for the staff and in addition to that we almost decided to leave because it was embarrassing to stand there waiting on this to work as if it was our card being declined. Read moreBy far the worse Golden Corral I have ever eaten at. It was busy. 2:15 on a Friday. We had to stand and wait for a table to be cleaned off to use, as did other folks, yet an entire section was closed. The table service gal was busting her butt however the staff preparing the food had attitudes. I requested a slider and he barked at me that they were not ready -they were still red. They appeared pretty well done to me. My husband went up and requested. Again he stared they were not ready-the meat was red. My husband insisted on one anyway. He cut it open on the spot and it was well done. When he showed the worker -the worker grumbled something. My husband asked what do you say and he responded with "what" that went back and forth three times. I then went to get myself a piece of their signature carrot cake. There was none out. When I asked the worker if there was carrot cake her response was "what's with the carrott cake already" and that was that. I am guessing I was not the first inquiry and she was tired of the request.
There were no soup spoons for soup- had to ask for a spoon and received a teaspoon. To top it off when we requested to speak with a manager-she presented herself NOT in any golden corral clothing. She was tucked in a corner doing paperwork. She apologized and gave us free coupons--with someone else's signature on them. Will never visit that...
