Tried this Friday night with 3 other friends. The positive first: I ordered the 2-Pac burger with fries. (2 patties, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions) Honestly one of the best burgers I've had in ABQ. I'm comparing it to other specialist burger locations, not national chains. The burger was thick, juicy and the ingredients were top notch. The fries came out super hot, you get a large amount, and they were tasty as well. The problem is that we arrived about 7:15, and we didn't get our food until about 8:30. Pretty unacceptable to wait an hour for a burger and fries. The place wasn't full when we arrived. We waited and waited, and yes, waited. We noticed quite a few people walking in, ordering take out, and then leaving with their food, while we still waited. The restaurant is located next to a brewery, and it appears they were providing food for the brewery as well. We suspected the brewery might have been getting priority service. Even if they weren't, it was a long wait, and at no point did a staff member come over and apologize for the wait, or offer a drink refill. Nothing. At the 45 minute mark we asked our server if our food would be out soon, as it was almost an hour, and we were just told "let me check", no further info provided. Food wise, I was happy, when it eventually arrived, the menu has quite a few options i want to try, but the possibility of waiting an hour for food again would keep me from returning. Lost opportunity for finding a new regular spot for a very tasty burger.

Phat Stax is an hip-hop-themed burger joint attached to Tractor Brewing Company in Nob Hill on Tulane Dr. It’s counter serve and very laid back and casual; no need to dress up for it. On their menu they have a number of sections: Intros for appetizers, Lil Youngin’s for children, Fry-Day for different french fries, Tha Dogg Pound for hotdogs, The Phlox for chicken selections, Phatties for smashed patty and other burgers (including black bean and turkey burgers), Juice World, and 50 Centers for sauces. I got the Cardi-BBQ from The Phlox menu section, which is a “Grilled chicken strip sandwich topped with cheese, BBQ sauce, bacon, and onion rings, served with fries”. I took off the cheese and added extra BBQ. It was decent, but not the best BBQ sandwich I’ve had. The bacon was crispy and the BBQ sauce somewhat spicy. I would have enjoyed a thicker BBQ sauce though, and more of it. Since I can’t eat dairy or red meat, my experience probably isn’t representative of most people’s experiences there since their specialty is burgers and it seems somewhat unfair to judge solely on a modified chicken burger, though I suppose reviews are an individual’s perspective anyway. My husband really enjoyed his smashburger and gave the restaurant a 4/5 on his end. I’m not sure I’d go back, but my hubby would.

Walked into a place that looked like it was managed by Biggie Smallz. First dude I saw was going ham on his burger, figured he was just starving, nah they're that good cause I did the same to mine. Went in at 3:30 on Thursday, they got my food ready in under 10min. Place was clean and my guy at the cash register was also the cook, very laid back, but professional. Got the fires plain Jane but they were hot and a perfect crisp and not too salty. I don't even like thick fries but these were great, would give em a 9/10 the loaded fries are probably amazing. Also had a G cheesy burger. Slightly thicker then a typical smash burger because it didn't have they typical grill lace, but damn it was juicy huge. Perfect balance of ingredients so nothing was overwhelming. And the green Chile was perfect, flavorful with a settle kick. Honestly would give that burger a 10/10 and I'm more on the harsh side for reviews. Paid 16 when all was said and done which is a bit pricey, but that's how it is now a days, but it was worth it when it comes to the size and quality I got.

I really don’t like to leave , unsatisfied reviews, especially to local restaurants. Here I go though. I hope this helps . Ok, first off. I’ve should have known better to order at this place, when the first thing that the young lady at the register. Gave me a list of things they did not have in stock or on the Menu.. She rattled off four things. But the main ingredient that 95% of burger aficionados absolutely love on their burger is pickles!!!!!!!! How in the hell yall ain’t got pickles?? I’m dumb founded and befuddled! You mean that nooooooooobody could a ran they ass to Costco or Sam’s???? That’s crazy!!!!! . My girlfriend and I ordered Kool aid. It took them over ten minutes for them to make us kool aid. Because they were out. Ok mind you. My girlfriend walked in with nobody in the restaurant. People who walked in after us got their sodas before we got our kool aid. And the tv was waaaaaay too loud in the dining room.

Ok as a foodie. I’ll review our meal. 1 out of ten scale

The smash burger Crust on the burger-10 if you like a good char with crunch in your burger? Ya they have perfected that

Flavor of the meat- you can tell meat is fresh never frozen, however, I didn’t detect much seasoning. Or a distinct flavor from the flattop grill.

Bread- solid 6 No complaints

Topping’s- 1 What I did have on my burger, it was fresh and cold. But I’m bombin y’all because on noooooooooPickles!! You know what they get a 2!

Burger bun ratio.. was a fail. When I open my burger to dress it with my favorite condiments ( which y’all put at the dirty table In a dollar tree basket. at your table in packets) bad burger joint move. From a foodie.. a big turn off was that the patties in my burger were significantly shaped and sized differently. If felt like my burger was lop sided. ( I want an even chew of all my burger every bite) oh and every table in this joint is uneven!! Sooo annoying!!!

Last complaint from a foodie.. what self respecting burger joint sells frozen fries? Deal breaker!! I want fresh cut and double cooked fries.

The burger is 3 out ten in my book.

Go to 5 guys. At least they will have pickles. And fresh fries. Sorry phat stax. Y’all failed me. I do uber eats and picked up food from y’all a hundred times. I don’t see what ppl see in your mediocre tasting food and mediocre service.

Service and food from this place…. It gets a 2 Five guys more expensive than y’all. But , I’ll go there instead. No pickles killed our relationship. And I’ll tell everyone I know In Albustanky. Y’all ain’t ready. And I...

A group of us decided to give this place a try for the first time since one of our friends has heard about it. We got there right before 7pm. I ordered the T-Pine but was then told a bit later while waiting that this burger was not available so ordered the Notorious BLT.

It was taking a while for our food to be served and we started wondering of how long we've been waiting. One of the people in our party took a photo of the interior with their phone when we got seated, so they pulled up the picture to check the time stamp. It turns out the picture was taken about 52 minutes ago. We've waited for well over an hour for our food to be served. During that time, we were never checked on by the server. The food arrived. It appeared like they were prioritizing orders for the brewery next door but it's hard to say. We did see a lot of orders being sent over there while we were waiting for our food.

Regarding the food, the burger was slightly over seasoned but it was decent. The fries were hot and fresh. The food was overall delicious but the overall experience was poor due to the service. All of us were really looking forward to this place and I wish it would have been a better experience for all of us.

We had to flag the server down to ask for our bill and then there was an issue to where my bill (we did split-billing) was already "printed" which I assume was closed to where it was already paid. It took over ten minutes when I finally went up to the register and informed them that we had to get going. They apologized and then billed me the amount for my order. I paid and we then headed out.

I would love to come back someday but only if there is an improvement in the overall service. It was difficult paying $16 for a burger and waiting for over an hour for it to be served.

Food - 4/5 Service -...
