Very impressed! My friend Anna and I were on our way to a usual for lunch, only to find that it was closed. Permanently! Aaaagh. So, since we were hungry, she googled the closest around. And I am glad she did. Sushibucks was amazing. We were greeted at the door by our host, she was very nice and welcoming... already ahead of the game there. She handed us our menus, and we proceeded to find a table. Since it was a cold, rainy day, we found a warm and comfortable spot at the back. I was excited to see some of my favorites on the menu. Especially a few different types of bibimbap! We proceeded to order, and we both decided on the bulgogi bibimbap and a sushi roll that was posted as a daily special. The host smiled and said,'Wow, that's a lot'! Now, usually, I'd question this, but not at all because she was very personable and lighthearted, and I was thankful that she made me smile. The food was amazing! We were served some miso soup, which was flavorful, warm, and blended together so well. Then came our main... The bulgogi was perfectly done, not salty and overdone like I have had at the many restaurants that serve it. The rest of the bibimbap ingredients were fresh and light. And when the sushi rolls came, we both were impressed. They were fresh, the shrimp had a nice crunch, and the presentation was top-notch. At the end of the meal, a cute dessert of carved oranges was a nice touch, and again, it made us smile. So to say, the 'that's a lot' joke before was spot on. I was so full that I had to bring a box home. But, I was thankful because there is nothing better than getting up in the middle of the night to remember you've got an amazing snack in the fridge. Leftovers like sushi and such are not typically appealing if not eaten right away, but they were so perfectly done and so tasty. Can't wait to go back for more! Now, back to bed I go....Anna, I think we found...

This place deserves more recognition. 3rd time going & NEVER disappoints. I forgot that good sushi actually melts in your mouth. And the ginger is fresh!!!!? It's the little things that make food exceptional. I've been to Dragon Sushi and this place is faster place and a good alternative if you live on the other side of abq.

The no rice Orangebucks roll needs MORE hype. How did you think of combining these ingredients and make it taste so amazing? When I took a bite I actually smiled?! It invoked emotion and happiness when I was originally having a bad day. Only twice in my life has someone's food actually did that and this place has done it.

They're always so sweet & kind, they really want you to be happy while youre there. Free cute cookies too.

Please SUPPORT them and give them a try. They work hard and their food is an actual experience not just to satiate. I actually took my time to eat it and enjoy it. They're artists. The ambience of their restaurant is nice too which tops it all off.

We need to support these small businesses, especially ones that actually try and put their heart into it like Sushibucks. Don't go to chain restaurants anymore. Indulge in more with this amazing find...

I was denied service here and asked to leave. I have a service dog. She had been in service for over 12 years and has traveled all over the U.S. with me. She is well-behaved and has been trained to perform tasks for my disability. This business is unaware of the laws. She kept asking me for a certification. There is no such thing. She acted like she went to check and Google it, but just quickly returned, smiling, continuing to ask me for a certification. Very disappointing. If you serve the public you should be educated on the law. Here ya go… Under federal law, service animals are permitted in public spaces, including businesses and restaurants, and must be allowed to accompany their handlers everywhere the public is allowed. Service animals must be under control and must be housebroken. Businesses can only ask two questions: if the animal is needed due to a disability and what work or task the animal is trained to perform. It is illegal to require certification, registration, or special vests, and service animals cannot be denied access based on...

It was a little hairy finding parking for this place but I suppose that’s just a product of being in downtown Albuquerque, not to mention the fact that I’m not familiar with the area. A quick pull-off into a side lot to check my map and it was easy enough to see their dedicated parking lot. The hostess was very friendly. Upon entering you review the menu, order, and find yourself a seat. Very quickly she brought me out a bowl of delicious miso soup and moments later my sushi roll arrive. Since I was only passing through I thought I’d order their signature sushi roll, the Sushibucks Roll, and it did not disappoint. The presentation was very well done and I almost didn’t want to ruin it by eating it. Almost. It was absolutely delicious. I even had some tea with my meal that I haven’t seen since my last visit to Japan over 15 years ago. I’d love to find this place again if I’m ever back in the area.
