The general Mgr is hopeless and helpless. I went into the restaurant today to pick up breakfast to go. I wanted 2 pancake breakfast. Comes with 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, choice of meat(bacon or sausage) and breakfast potatoes. When I got there I told them I wanted to add another order of sausage and a small side of gravy to put on my potatoes. Then I got my ticket and the total is $48.96. That seemed totally wrong and over priced but I paid and got a receipt. The receipt says they are charging me $11 twice for the two meals and then $2.99 for each pancake. So the pancakes alone come out to like $13.50. Just 4 pancakes. Then I see a charge of 3.99 for a bowl of gravy. Which I didn't ask for. I wanted a small souffle cup of gravy. Like a couple tablespoons to put on my potatoes. So my server asks if I need to speak to a manager so I tell him yeah that's fine. Figured it was just a simple mixup and he'd fix it. He refused to fix it. Set that he didn't make up the prices. So it's not his fault. When clearly they had charged me wrong. I was forced to leave without my pancakes or my gravy cuz he refused to fix the receiptwhen they clearly charged me wrong. Instead of paying attention and looking at the receipt in realizing that I was charged wrong. So look prices have already gone up crazy and the mgr does not make those prices and I understand that but that was not the issue. The problem was that instead of charging me for two pancake breakfasts. They charged me for two egg breakfasts and then tried to charge me separately for each pancake. Then tried to sell me a whole bowl of gravy like it was soup for $3.99 when I asked for a small side. That is why this location is so dead all the time. Oh and don't waste your time going there for the buffet because it is so dead they never put fresh food on the bar. Daily food on the bar for hours under the heat lamps and it's all garbage. Just because you guys are making enough business and you're having to throw more food away does not give you the right to sell us old outdated food because of food costs that you don't want to lose. The last thing that I brought up with the manager was the fact that they have omelets on their menu and they say they don't make him anymore and haven't made him since covid but they're still on the menu.4 years later and the refuse to honor their own menu. The only thing he kept saying is it's not his problem not his fault that I need to talk to corporate. The company needs to rethink who they hire as managers at this restaurant because it's destroying your business. That man could have easily rang up my ticket to fix their mistake but he refused too and let me leave without half of my food. I was forced to give back the food I already had and got a refund cause I'm not paying $18 for 4 pancakes and a small side of gravy. If it was just the case that shoney's had raised their prices too much and that's all I'd be saying but it's clearly a...
Read moreBack in April I had a bad breakfast experience with cold food on the bar, watered-down cheese sauce, thinner than the coffee, and nothing I found palatable but broccoli and tomatoes for veggies that seemed fresh, however the cold bar didn't come close to making my trip worth it, most notably Shoneys had beets that were definitely fermenting because they made my tongue tingle slightly accompanied by that "whang" you get on your palate after alcohol. My experience was promptly followed diligently by management who had a conversation with me over the phone. She expressed how disappointed she was about what I had to report on my experience at her restaurant. She promised me my next visit was on the house, "anything I want from the menu or bar". My visit was in Alcoa and I don't often find myself in that area these days, but had some errands to run recently that took me by there. I hesitated, but figured I could give it another chance, especially since it was supposed to be free. I only had an email asking to speak with me on the phone but it didn't have the promises made to me by the manager in any sort of writing. I wasn't sure the manager's name, as my last visit had been a couple of months prior. I had no way to prove I was promised by management to be comped. I was denied. I had no way to back up the promise made to me other than a name drop had I been able to remember her name. I understand you may not be able to just give away a free meal to anyone that asks, however, I DID have emails with the corporate team that mentioned the phone conversation. The manager on duty asked to take my phone and I didn't feel comfortable with that since it's also my wallet and has sensitive data on it. She could see the emails in question while I was holding my phone but that wasn't good enough. She was skeptical that anyone at the regional level would even speak with a customer and had looked me up and down rudely before we even spoke. She obviously wasn't in the mood for customer service or respect for her superiors because her entire demeanor said "no" before the ask. I left with a belly as empty as the promise made to me by the management regional director. I sent an email to shoneys at the address that originally had requested contact when my initial bad review posted with no response. I even tried to find the number of the manager that I spoke with on the phone based on the day of my initial visit in my phone log. I got a voice mail with no credentials associated with Shoneys and also did not receive any reply. My attitude for ever returning to any shoneys at this point is the same now as the empty promises, the cold "no" to match their food and deafening silence of anyone at corporate that may care if their ship is sinking, Thanks Google maps community for over 7000 new views of my contributions and reviews...
Read moreThey weren't crowded, but service was slow. My order for a grilled chicken sandwich came out with just bread, cheese and lettuce. Wgen my husband finally was able to get someone's attention, they went to find the waitress, who appeared overworked as I'd also seen her having to clean up the salad bar. She admitted being preoccupied and thought I'd said grilled cheese (which I don't think was even on the menu...but who puts lettuce on grilled cheese? Also, this version of grilled cheese was just slightly toasted bread with some barely softened cheese on it.). I told her it'd be OK if they just put the chicken on what was there. She went to the back with my plate and came out a couple minutes later asking if I wanted to pay the extra amount to have the cheese (that was already on the bread from the grilled cheese) on my.chicken sandwich. I said no, so they tossed it all out and made a fresh sandwich, which took about 10 minutes. By then, my husband was long done with his meal. I felt sorry for the flustered waitress, but wanting to charge me extra and then tossing everything...
