Bellino's Restaurant — Restaurant in Alexandria

Visited 9 March 2013 at 5:30pm. We enjoyed our appetizer (Oysters Bellino) and Caesar Salad. My entree (Stuffed Flounder) came plated very nicely with flounder skin up over a bed of crab meat stuffing. Temperature was good and the fish was well cooked except the skin was not crisp. My first bite yielded a bone but I thought one bone forgivable. My second bite yielded a mouthful of bones and by my third bite I could take no more. The waitress brought out the "chef" (an exaggeration...no more than a cook in my opinion), who began to make excuses rather than simply apologizing for his failure to remove the bones from the edible portion of this beautiful fish. My experience was ruined. I ate here once while attending a military school 10 years ago and was quite impressed. After moving to the area in 2009 I began searching for this restaurant anticipating another wonderful experience with my wife. What a disappointment. My wife had a veal over linguine pasta, the veal was cooked perfectly but had no seasoning and the pasta was overcooked and virtually flavorless. We may give it one more try. When we eat out we expect excellent food, especially when we expect to pay $100 or more for a nice dinner out. Had the food been right and the chef not been an excuse-maker we would have spent more time there and possibly spent an additional $100. The atmosphere and wait staff are surely inviting and comfortable enough to warrant that level...

Used to be a nice place with decent food; now I am not so sure. My wife and I recently stopped there because we wanted to purchase some gift certificates. Also their website is infected with a computer virus. Well it just was not a good evening is all I can say. It took several minutes before anyone was even present to talk to us. When we asked about gits certificates the person talking to us said we really don't do those. Finally the employee found one under the bar. When we mentioned their Web site was unusable, all we got was a shoulder shrug and comment the owner doesn't care about all that stuff. Interesting. If allowing a virus to exist on a public Web site is acceptable, one has wonder what does on...

Took over hour for 4 simple pastas. They were very mediocre nothing special. Needed flavor , asked my waitress for new spoon 2 times never got one. $80 for 3 pastas 1 kid pasta and waters. Other places usually have small dinner salad included with entree price at least. Which I highly recommend here since its such a long wait if may help customers feel like they're not waiting as long. Waitress wasn't friendly just checked on us 2 times and this place isn't really a place for kids. Luckily my child did well for 1 1/2 hours especially waiting that long to eat but kids meal is $8 for small pasta no fruit or small veg side so not a kids meal. Just a tiny $8...
