So I hate that I have to give this place 3 stars because Ive been looking for a great neighborhood pizza by the slice place for a while now and the other reviews seem promising. The pizza here is great, closest I've gotten to real NY pizza here. The place is small and the furniture kind of outdate but I think it adds to the charm.
The problem is the staff created a very uncomfortable environment. B/c the place is so small the cook station is right up front near the cash register and 95% of the tables can see this area. Anyway as I was ordering my food, there was a $5 bill on a counter. Someone must have asked what/who is that money for and the cook said something in a different language along with the word "tip" and then with anger through the money aside. Shortly after I took a seat waiting for my food I hear the cook saying repeatedly " I don't care, I don't want to F* be here" and other profane things. He was clearly in a bad mood. I think his name is Melvin. But it doesn't end there.
A couple wait for their food at a table across from me had ordered a pizza and when their food came it was wrong bc it had pepperoni on it . The young kid who must have been no older than 18 took the pizza back and within minutes brought out another pizza. The problem is, again with the kitchen so close I didn't see the cook put the pizza aside or dump it. Secondly the rate at which the second pizza came was much faster than the original pizza so even the couple had to ask , "did you just take the pepperoni off and not think we would notice". The boy didn't respond but he did say we're making another one for you on the house to take home. So that was nice, the thing is just before I left the boy asked the couple " So ummm do you guys want like some free sodas or something". The couple said no thanks and the boy (while he may have meant it jokingly) replied "Okay if you say so" with a very sarcastic tone. At the moment the lady of the couple may have gotten slightly annoyed and replied "yes I say so".
At that point having finished my pizza I left. The establishment is very lucky that couple was so nice and patient bc had it been someone else or someone in a mad mood the kid and the cook probably would have been told off. Both situations made the whole environment uncomfortable and I think it's things like this that will cause first timers to not come back.
I really wanted to give this place 5 stars but I cant today. If I decide to visit again, hopefully the experience will...
Read moreFirst things first If you’re rating below a 4.5 you need to go back to Little Ceasers you disgust me. Pardon my aggression. Also a side note I stopped eating halfway through my meal with a burning desire to give a review on the spot but my girlfriend yelled at me to put down my phone so here I am. My stomach is stuffed with the greatness Farlington Pizza magic and I would give up my two thumbs if it were between them or never eating here again. (It’d be extremely difficult to eat pizza without thumbs so I hope you understand the seriousness of this) I just moved here from Boston a month ago and regretfully I’ll admit I was staying in my comfort zone when it came to pizza and ordering from dominos but no more. Today is my birthday and this just put the most satisfying ending to it and already vowed to make it tradition to have it be my birthday dinner from this point on. I even had to text my dad about this experience and the history. I’m a pizza guy and more importantly a family or mom and pop run’d business type of supporter and I found my spot. I already notified Dave Portnoy the President of Barstool Sports and founder of “One bite everyone knows the rules” and the One Bite Pizza app that this place is legit. Now back to my expierence; First things first I walk into the classic setting of a hometown feel-good pizza shop, trophies and pictures fill the walls displaying the great history it serves. The owner isn’t behind the counter, he’s engaging with his customers, welcoming the ones walking in and sending off the ones leaving with appreciation but more importantly I couldn’t help but hear the greatness coming out of his mouth preaching about winning, team work, the importance of chemistry and being the best at the job you take on. And to make things even sweeter I found out this is the home of “Remember the Titans” and this man suited up in the same jersey worn by the legends before him. The same attitude he displayed brushed off on the food that is served, the pizza, the wings and the mozzarella sticks I ordered was the 71’ Championship exploding in my mouth with each bite I took. Farlington pizza shop is winning from its environment, it’s ownership and of course it’s food too. Like I said I’m from Boston, we like winning..this place is winner. Until next time, keep doing your thing Farlington....
Read moreI decided to order from Fairlington Pizza because I was VERY hungry and knew if I selected carefully I could end up with enough food for two meals. So I ordered Chicken Breast Burger with fries and a soda, Chicken Steak Sub, Carrot Cake, and Onion Rings. The food arrived within a reasonable time and still hot. The burger was so big it had to be slightly folded to enter the container and the amount of fries were, as you can, more than enough to make anybody happy. The Onion Rings were huge, thickly sliced and well battered. And, once again, still warm. The Carrot Cake was a surprise as it also had raisins. I am not really a fan of raisins by themselves but when added to cake or pudding they can improve a dessert greatly. Which they did. The Carrot Cake was great. I would even suggest that is was equal to the Carrot Cake served by the Carrot Tree down near Jamestown. The Chicken Steak Sub was saved for the next day and was easy to heat up as it was already in tinfoil. And it was pretty good also. Even the soda was cold because it was in its own little bag - kept away from the hot stuff. In the future, if I ever want a lot of good food for a few meals because I am too lazy to cook for myself, or I have a friend over, I'm ordering from Fairlington Pizza. Addition - Ordered food delivery a few days ago. This time got a Fish Sandwich and a Veggie Sub and the side of Onion Rings and of course the great Carrot Cake. The order was delivered within 40 minutes and the food was nice and hot. The Fish sandwich was perfect and I swear the Carrot Cake slice looked bigger than last time. The Veggie Sub was saved for the next day and the Rings were perfect. No complaints. And still five out of five. Just some more photos! Addition - Ordered a New York Style Cheese Pizza, Onion Rings, and once again their Carrot Cake. Nothing add but wish I could give them more than five stars. They deliver the food on time and warm during rush hour on a weekend. And yes, I live near DC, we have rush hours on the weekends too. Update - Not much to add. Ordered delivery and found the Root Beer they use is Mug Root Beer. Which I think is the best Root Beer. And they still have the best...
