I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Four Mile Pig in Alexandria, Kentucky, and I must say it was an outstanding experience. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted by the friendly and attentive staff, particularly Emma and JT, who provided exceptional customer service. They were not only knowledgeable about the menu but also shared some local fishing spots with me, which was a delightful bonus.
The restaurant itself was clean and well-maintained, with a cool outdoor seating area for those who enjoy dining al fresco. Inside, there were cozy eating areas that offered a relaxed and comfortable ambiance. The cleanliness extended to the bathrooms as well, which were immaculate and well kept.
Now, let's talk about the food. My son is quite picky when it comes to BBQ, but he couldn't stop raving about the pulled pork he had at Four Mile Pig. He rated it a perfect 10 out of 10. The pork was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, making it an absolute winner. To complement the pork, we ordered the creamy Mac and cheese, which was another standout dish. The combination of the rich, cheesy sauce and perfectly cooked pasta was simply heavenly.
I opted for the brisket, which had fantastic flavor, although it was a bit on the fatty side. Nonetheless, the taste was exceptional, and the accompanying Caribbean beans were a delightful twist on traditional baked beans. The beans were perfectly seasoned, offering a unique and delicious flavor profile that I thoroughly enjoyed.
To conclude the meal on a sweet note, we indulged in a warm brownie with raspberry sauce. The brownie itself was fluffy and decadent, and the raspberry sauce added a refreshing tartness that balanced the richness of the dessert. It was an absolute delight for the taste buds.
Overall, I had a fantastic dining experience at the Four Mile Pig. The combination of excellent customer service, a clean and inviting atmosphere, and outstanding food made it a memorable visit. If you're a BBQ enthusiast or simply looking for a great place to eat in Alexandria, Kentucky, I highly recommend giving the Four Mile Pig a try. You won't be...
Read moreI had a pulled pork sandwich, fries, mac & cheese, and sweet tea. Quick summary: it was fine, but it's not a place at the top of my list to try again. If you've never been, you should try it because you might like it. Also, they need to tell people up front that their sweet tea is more like Arizona Tea and less like traditional sweet tea.
The pulled pork had good flavor, but it was too sloppy/juicy. In my opinion, the barbecue itself should be juicy throughout, not just coated in juice on the outside. The bun used for the sandwich was good.
The mac & cheese was fine/average, probably something like a Stouffer's frozen package, but it is not like the mac & cheese you get at BBQ/soul food restaurants in the Deep South.
The fries were a good texture/consistency, but I prefer my fries to be salty, and the seasoning was too sweet for me.
The sweet tea was more like Arizona Tea. If you like Arizona Tea, you'll be satisfied. If you don't like Arizona Tea, you'll be disgusted. In my opinion, it was gross.
The standard bbq sauce was fine, nothing special about it. The mustard-based sauce was lacking. The Alabama white sauce was an admirable attempt at the often-imitated, never-duplicated, highly-elusive flavor profile. The best Alabama white sauce on earth is found at Moe's BBQ locations...
Read moreI’ve lived in Alexandria for about 2 years now and have been a fan of this place pretty much since we moved in. My fiancé isn’t a bbq girly, so sometimes if I have to do a solo dinner, I swing on by. This time I just went simple with the pulled pork and got fries and baked beans with it. I have had Four Mile Pig probably somewhere around 15-20 times, and it is consistently great. The pulled pork is great, as I’ve gotten it a lot. All the cheese melts are fantastic, especially my favorite the turkey bacon havarti. But I have to say something:
The Caribbean baked beans are special. This isn’t new to me as I almost always get them, but just something I really need to share this time. They are absolutely ridiculously bangin. I AM NOT EXAGGERATING when I say that they almost brought a tear to my eye finishing this cup just now. No! It wasn’t sadness from the journey being over, but pure blissful joy that I even got the chance to go. Each spoonful tastes like a memory of somewhere I’ve never been, yet I know it inside and out; all its nooks and crannies. It doesn’t have to make sense, just...
