Los Mariachis Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Alexandria

Just tried out the new Mexican restaurant in Alexandria, Minnesota. It is in the old Texas roadhouse building. The building looks great with a fresh new paint and sign board. When you walk in, you are greeted by the hostess stand and the bar. There are plenty of tables as you enter the main part. We got our drinks, chips, and salsa right away. The chips were fresh, the salsa had some heat but was really good, and the drinks were on point. I ordered the quesabirria tacos, which came with three excellent and very flavourful tacos, extra birria dipping sauce, rice, and pico salsa. It was fantastic and so good, also very well priced for how much you get in the entree. Finally, by the time we placed the order, our food was brought out to us in about 5 minutes. I read the review below saying the chips were soggy and salsa was water and it couldn’t be more opposite of that. The salsa was full of flavor and chips were perfect. I ordered the Birria. It was honestly the best I’ve ever had. It was full of flavor. Could use a little less salt but every note of birria was there and then some. Meat was tender tortillas were fried perfectly crisp. I’ve had a lot of Mexican food in my life. And this is top of the list for me. I got the flight for $12 and it was well worth it. Also got the large marg. And it’s worth every penny. First off the signage is terrible. Difficult to read as it is small and a lot going on. Los Mariachis should be at the top with larger letters. I liked the decor here, the chips and salad are ok. I'm used to having a spicier more flavorful salsa. The fajita nachos were very good. I've never had that combo before and really liked the veggies and the presentation. If I lived here I would probably go again, but I'm just passing through. Also, there was a fee added to use my credit card, that should be mentioned before taking the payment as I could have used...
