What is a review with out being honest? It had been years since I ate at this Los Portales, and I was not looking forward to it. Previously I felt they were extremely bland. But I am glad I went. I had the Carne Asada Tacos (combination of chicken and steak). Very good. Maybe a little too much meat but who complains about that? Spice was perfect. Chips and salsa were great. Only thing I wasn't too fond of was the refried beans and guacamole, but everyone has unique preferences for those types of things. The guac needed more lime in my opinion and I am a chunky type of guac person and this was more like spread. Same as the refried beans the consistency was too much like paste.

We are happy to state that our visit here was very pleasant. We stopped in for lunch the outside was questionable however the parking lot was full and we knew it was not because of T Mobile next door. We entered and I was surprised that the walls was not painted a yellow or orange but a light blue. We were seated quickly, waiter was friendly and very helpful. Whenever I'm in town, my hometown of Alexandria, Louisiana, I never miss the opportunity to dine here, however, this time was not so pleasant. I ordered the tamale dinner and they were extremely dry, the beans & rice had no flavor at all. Even the server was flavorless!!!
