Habanero — Restaurant in Alexandria

This place was referred to me from a friend and I must say this place didn't disappoint. I was a bit worried when the previous Chinese buffet was instead replaced with this spot, since that was a good go-to inside the mall for a lot of food at a decent price. Glad to say that my experience here was just as good. The service was one of the best I've experienced at an establishment in this area. Not only were they prompt with their service but they were very nice and easy to converse with. The manager at the counter was reasonable and gave good suggestions for a first-timer.

The food I ordered was a carnitas rice bowl with carne asada and cheese, etc. The meal was $12 not including the drink but the price is worth it for the portions they give. The carnitas which is pork was a bit on the fattier side admittedly but offered a great yet subtle flavor combined with the carne asada which is a nice pairing. I'm not sure the exact carnitas seasoning they use but it's very delicate flavors. The rice was soft and cooked properly which is a plus. Overall was pleased with my meal. In addition the friends I came with ordered a birria quesadilla and a loaded fry which packed tons of flavor with the fries being cooked perfectly with a pristine crisp even under all of the cheese. I didn't get to try the quesadilla but it looked about as good as I expected. I can't think of any drawbacks, I even was given a free small chip bag and sauce. Seriously don't waste your time or money. In a city full of mexican food you can do better booboo. Their "red sauce" is literally chili oil extract. The barbacoa is some weird meat paste and idk what happened to the rice. I ate it because it was 14 dollars for a burrito but I'm sure a few of my tastebuds are going to unalive them selves after they were lied to about thinking they were about to endure mexican food,And it wasn't.
