Gave Monterey's a go after getting a paper flyer in my mailbox.
-Price: Extremely competitive, and can definitely go up against the Papa Johns and Dominoes of the area.
-Service: Delivery was super quick but moreso than that everything was packaged nicely for the trip which I definitely appreciated. All the food was piping hot.
-Selection: The variety of gourmet pizzas and salads are quite large, with a small but respectable selection of accompanying sides. The menu size as a whole feels spot on and not cluttered up by non-pizza items, which - hello, it's a pizza place. You want them to focus on pizza.
-Quality: I ordered the new hot honey pizza and some buffalo wings, the latter of which I keep doing because I enjoy being disappointed by the wings in this area, apparently. Not so here. The wings were moist with a definitely noticeable grill / char-broiled taste which I thought was fantastic. They definitely don't just throw them into a deep fryer and call it a day (looking at you, Wing Zone). Size-wise they were smaller than what I would consider to be usual and the sauce was clearly your typical off-the-shelf wing sauce, but the way they were cooked made up for all of that and were the best wings I've had in the area, despite this being a pizza place.
The pizza itself was clearly made with high-quality ingredients, even down to the pepperoni. The cheese tasted like cheese. The crust had a nice oven-baked crisp to it and the crust-to-actual-pizza ratio was spot on. I did have to dock a star because the pizza was absolutely drowning in honey, so I'd highly recommend dialing that back to more of a drizzle and less of a deluge.
-Overall: Not the best pizza I've had here (which in my opinion goes to the artisans at Quattro Formaggi), but takes a firm second and certainly first place as far as what you get for your money goes. I will definitely be a repeat customer and can confidently say that Monterey's has beaten out the typical big box...
Read moreThe BEST cauliflower gluten-free crust! It’s definitely thin crust, & it’s a little chewy (in a good way) rather than cracker-crisp. It doesn’t taste at all like cauliflower to me, more like toasted cheese with some seasonings—though if you truly hate cauliflower, you may get a tiny bit of a veggie aftertaste. Comes in 10” & 12” that are true to size, & the toppings cover side-to-side with barely any bare crust at the edges. (For reference, for all my GF buddies out there, I like Banza’s frozen chickpea pizza crust just fine, and cannot even eat the ones from CauliPower, their crust is slimy & gross! So that’s where my tastebuds fall on the GF-pizza-spectrum.) The regular wheat pizzas from here are excellent, too, but this is the first time I’ve had a GF pizza that I would choose over traditional crust, even if it wasn’t...
Read moreSave your time and money and don't order from this pizza place! There are tons of other pizza places in the area who prides themselves in making quality, top-tier pizza! I ordered for takeout and the young lady at the cash register was very nonchalant about everything! She didn't hand me a receipt and walked away as I was asking her a question- poor customer service skills! It gets better, as I get home, not too far away, I open the box and it looks like the pizza is thrown together and the crust is so burnt that it didn't even look edible. I can't believe that a business who has been around this long is not doing quality assurance checks on what's being delivered out of this place! I will never be back to this place and I highly advise against it if you're ordering in the area! Pics will be...
