To the owner of lost dog cafe Alexandria, your employees know nothing about customer service. On several occasions I have ordered from your establishment. Sometimes they get the order wrong, but for most times everything is good. But tonight sept 1,2018 was the last straw, needless to I will never use your services again. I ordered my food at 8:25 pm over the phone for pick up, like always 15-20 was the reply. I get there at 8:55 pay for the order and end up standing around. Finally the cashier comes back, and says that the kitchen didn't even start my order. He promptly goes in to the register and takes out the $15 and change and refunds my money. When I told him this wasn't the first time he just had a blank look on his face. I left because I work nights and I couldn't wait and had to go. On my way to work I called and asked for a manager, Andrew transferred me to Janaid who is supposedly the manager. I don't know how she became manager of your establishment, but you should really look back to see how. I told her everything I just wrote, she didn't even try to resolve the issue. Or ask for any information, to her credit she did say ok and thank you and hung up on me. If this is the way you treat customers, because you are a well established business and don't care about my measly $15. Then I'm more then happy to...
Read moreI've probably ordered at least 100 pizzas from Lost Dog's various locations. Overall it's usually good, but it's highly INCONSISTENT. The crust is light and airy, not dense and spongy (I'm looking at you, Lena's). The portions are generous. The menu is extensive. Online ordering works well, and unlike many restaurants they bothered to include a photo and description of every single pizza.
However, it feels like a roll of the dice whether the pizza will be anything like my last order, or even any good. The dough seems to be the same every time but the preparation and cooking are widely variable. The amount, cut, and placement of toppings changes. I add red onions and sometimes that means large chunks the size of a spoon buried on the bottom, sometimes that means thin fajita cut strips roasted on top. Sometimes the pizza is cooked perfectly, with the slice able to hold its own weight without bending. Sometimes it's a disgusting flabby mess drowning in a pool of greasy cheese. There appears to be no training on this kind of stuff (please use LESS cheese) and the results could be much so much better with some standardization. Lately I've gotten several duds in a row, which is a disappointment. It puts me off from ordering, but I'll probably try again after a month and hope I roll a good...
Read moreI’ve been here a couple times in recent months while visiting family in town and I was not let down either time!
The staff is very friendly and attentive to patrons needs, but at the same time aren’t overwhelming. They are also efficient, making it seem seamless in between ordering and receiving items.
The food is also quite delicious! I got two gluten free pizzas the first time I went and I can honestly say it’s the best gluten free pizza I’ve ever had from a restaurant. The second time I tried a different menu item, the surf-n-turf sandwich, with the waffle fries; and both far exceeded my expectations!
On top of the staff and the food, the prices are fair in comparison to the portion size and the atmosphere/location is pretty pleasant, located on the first floor of an apartment building with plenty of outdoor seating in a quaint little courtyard. There is street parking nearby, but also a public parking garage underneath the buildings.
I would highly recommend if you find yourself in this part of Alexandria you stop in for a bite; you won’t be...
