Northwoods Cafe — Restaurant in Alexandria

Stopped here for the first time from the recommendation of a Google review. Welllll.... the food was great. Ordered the hot roast beef sandwich. The potatoes were hot and real mashed, the gravy was good - not too salty, and the roast beef was flavorful. The service was barely mediocre.... slow, had no drink refills, not checked on. I was served ice water with old hashbrown bits in it. The atmosphere was different than I'm used to. Now, when you look people in the eye, say hello, how are you gentleman doing, and they look at you and say nothing is extremely rude. Very small-town mentality. Us Out-of-towners didn't feel welcomed. Unfortunate. Small restaurant that could use upgrades. It was good food, but I believe there are better places that you could visit...

We stopped here for breakfast on our way home from camping in Fergus Falls.. So glad we did the most welcomed we have felt all Labor Day Weekend!!! The wait staff and locals were so friendly and welcoming!! The food was delicious and the prices were on point!! Super busy but atmosphere was soo alive and loving with families enjoying each other. The wait staff is top notch and such Champs and handled every guest with respect and care!! Thank you for the amazing service and we will be back next year!! We will be looking for camp sites in Alexandria next year.. what an amazing town!!! Thank you again for making our family trip end on a sweet note!!! A must stop to have a wonderful breakfast and lunch...

Wonderful wonderful wonderful. Service, food, and price. Don’t think you can beat this cafe. We were driving through from Wisconsin back to North Dakota. Looked through the local restaurants and reviews. This place even exceeded the excellent reviews. Our teenage boys were wondering where in the world we were going as we drove past all the normal chains to a residential area then pulled up to this little cafe. Everyone was impressed with the menu, service, and food, and everyone was stuffed by the time we left which is not a small success with 4 teenage boys! Thank you for a wonderful...
