Tacos El Tajin — Restaurant in Algona

Too bad there is a not a negative sign I can mark on here as they do not deserve not even a one start for today's service.....So today we went to Tacos El Tajin because in the past we have always gotten fast service...Today was horrible. We waited more then one hour and NOTHING. but during the time we were trying to place the order the woman at the register took 3 phone calls and took their order and finally got to us. She took other peoples order after us and those orders that were placed were ready for them to pick up and every single person after us got their order YET we still waited for ours and nothing....There was close to 7 others behind us and they were all taken care of before us... She finally looked our way asking what we had ordered and I told her 4 times and still nothing....So I said I would like my money back as my husband was losing his patience by then.... So she gave me our money and said our order is coming up I said I can't believe it has not even been started but yet you had time to take the 3 phone call orders and out the door and still managed to take the orders for those behind us and get their order yet here we are and hour later when our order was a simple one and NOTHING...As we were walking out she was calling out that it was almost done....But who would want to ear with one was already put in a bad ass mood....Tomorrow I am going back to ask for the tip my husband left in the jar....I wonder how they would feel next time they show up at the place where I work and I by pass them and take care of those behind them and make the...

We picked this place because we love Mexican food, we were a couple miles away and it has a 4.5 ⭐ rating on google.

Did the food live up to expectations? No it did not. My daughter and I thought this place was okay but we wouldn't go out of our way to eat there again. The food was average. Flavors were average. There was nothing about our food that was specifically good - just average. The portions were on the smaller side. I got tacos al pastor with rice and beans. The tacos were ok. I had to ask for salsa options after they served the tacos, which was unexpected.

I don't think they have many guests eat in the dining room because they were caught off guard when we asked for a table.

Our final disappointment was the churros. They were simply not good. They were $6.99. I think they were from a premade frozen pack - they definitely weren't fresh made. Plus they were overcooked and dry. We didn't finish them.

I'd get food here out of convenience but not if I had...

I had not been here in ages and I thought I would stop in for lunch I ordered the Super Burrito. It was huge, which I liked, and the tortilla was nicely grilled. I could not wait to take the first bite.

Oh, but that bite was a bite of disappointment. I am pretty sure the chewy and flavorless beef had just been microwaved. The only saving grace was that I was able to coat it with enough salsa to be palatable.

Normally, I would have sent it back, but I was not in a mood to deal with anything at the moment. The food was so much better before. I do not understand how they could serve such poor food.
