Big House Burgers — Restaurant in Alice

I know Buffalo wings. I'm originally from Buffalo, NY! Great tasting Buffalo wings outside of Buffalo, NY are difficult to find.

Well what do you know......Big House Burgers has the recipe. These wings were even better tasting than Brewster 's in Corpus. Well done BIG House! What the wings lack in size they make up for in flavor. I found myself rubbing my fries in the wing sauce on the bottom of the plate. It was that good. You could dip a dog turd in this sauce and I'd eat it.

The burger was tasty too. It also lacked stature, but the fresh tasty bun and delicious meat made up for it's shortcomings. The veggies were fresh and the dill pickles were crispy and vinegary....as they should be! The ranch dip was delicious too!

The barn feel was cozy and welcoming. My kind of atmosphere. We counted 9 TV's on the walls, so there was plenty of entertainment while waiting for the food. The place wasn't extremely busy, but it seemed to take awhile to get the food, but no complaints.....it came out fresh and pipin' hot! The fries were unremarkable, as well as the sweet potato Waffle fries, however they really heaped a pile of them on the plate. They should offer sweet potato HOT Waffle fries soaked in that Buffalo wings sauce. There would be a line at the door!

Don't let the bar scare any families away. It is completely separate and in the rear of the building. No annoying loud music or unruly patrons!

Careful with the milkshake.....$6 + and it is a medium cup. Delicious...

02/14/23: 1star. of the last three visits, we've only had one good experience. This day was not it. When we got there, it looked slow. Yet, We were there for about 3 hours and left dissatisfied. We were told to seat ourselves and we did. We waited so long, just to get menus. I asked four people for menus. Another customer told me about his long wait and others left because of the wait time. Then, our food took so long. Finally, we get our food and it's not what I was expecting. I returned that plate and got baked potato and it smelled like vomit. I didn't even eat that night. The manager never came to talk to us. The manager never contacted us.

12/16/22: 4stars. This was a great experience. We haven't been here in 3 years. This was our second visit and first time getting to eat. Alexis (I think that was the name) was awesome. She helped us understand the menu and recommended meals. She was very attentive and extremely patient. Could be 5stars, if we didn't have a previous experience.

08/25/19: 1star. This was our first visit to Big House. We didn't even get to eat. We sat down and got our drinks. Before we could order food, my friend was kicked out. They have a rule about neck tattoos, or something. So, we were forced to go to King...

We've been here a few times before with normal, good experiences. But our most recent trip out was very pleasant thanks to great food and outstanding service from our server. Our server was incredibly on top of drink refills, friendly and funny. Very attentive and paused to make sure our order was correct and to let them know if we had any issues. Definitely added to the overall quality of the experience. (Thanks Christine, you were great!) We got a fried pickle appetizer, a baked potato and a chicken sandwich meal. The pickles were well made and not dripping with grease like we normally see which was ideal! It was also a decent portion size. We had some left over. My sandwich had a huge piece of moist, tender chicken and the buns were nicely toasted, easily the best chicken sandwich I've had in recent memory! The fries were also way better than I was expecting. My partner also really enjoyed their baked potato and even had some left they couldn't finish (but definitely wanted to). We even brought the left over pickles and french fries home and reheated them later in the air fryer and they were great, haha! We will definitely be coming back more regularly...
