I had planned to meet up with an old friend for lunch in the Allen area recently, so I googled nearby restaurants and found this place online. I liked the reviews and that it appeared to be a local mom & pop style cafe. It had quite a few cars in the lot when we arrived and that was a good sign, so we decided to give it a try. The hostess and wait staff were not overly friendly, but I figured they were probably just busy. It seemed a little strange that they all spoke Ukrainian (or similar foreign language), especially at a small town cafe in Texas. My friend ordered the chicken-fried chicken with mash potatoes and okra, but was served the wrong order and mentioned it to the waitress. She just sighed and took it away to go correct it without so much an apology to him or comment whatsoever. I made the mistake of ordering the beef enchiladas, which I figured any cafe in Texas couldn't screw up too bad. but I was definitely wrong, and wished I had not ordered them. They were served room temp with small bits of beef and onion and what tasted like bell pepper (wrong type pepper for enchiladas) rolled up inside flour tortillas (enchiladas should be rolled in corn tortillas as a Tex-Mex standard). And whereas they should have been smothered in a brothy chili con-carne sauce, the enchilada sauce was awful, and tasted like something out of a can. The cheddar cheese over it all was thick and stiff, and it was served with dry, refried beans and spicy, spanish rice that I just couldn't eat. Locals may love this place for the breakfast and burgers, but I would definitely stay away from the enchiladas and not get your expectations of customer service too high. I can only give them 2...
Read moreI go here for breakfast quite often and I always enjoy the food. It is a small cafe so on weekends the wait times and lines can be long. I think that is a good thing in a bad way. If that many people enjoy the food as much as I do well, you end up with lines. This also means parking can be bad, really bad on weekends. I've never been there without thinking they need to find a way to expand the dining room and parking. I still give them a 5 star review because of the food, service and the way they treat people, it is like having a large family breakfast. I've only been there once for lunch and I have to admit I loved the burger I had. Basically you can't beat a small town Cafe like this one, I'm probably going to go have a Denver omelet there in the morning!!!!
I still go here as often as I can afford it. Things are a bit tighter these days. I get the Texas omelet now because it has shrooms in it as well. Otherwise nothing's changed, food is sill wonderful and usually fast, the staff is still super friendly. So just an update rather...
Read moreMy wife loves a good breakfast/brunch! I am not the biggest fan of breakfast in comparison to other meals in the day, but I donât mind if the food is good. Normally we might hit up IHOP for a quick and easy breakfast, but she mentioned a nice local venue in town called Allen CafĂŠ. We went there and I will never go back to IHOP (which never quite did it anyway)!
The food is very fresh and tastes delicious. My wife has been on a French Toast kick right before she was pregnant and hasnât stopped since our daughter has been born, and she LOVES their French Toast. What I like about Allen CafĂŠ is the portions are great for the price. The breakfast burritos are HUGE two people can share them!
We have gone back a many times since going here for the first time and the staff never disappoints. Very good place and if you are in Allen you need to check this place out! There is usually a small wait time, but it is really worth it. They get people in and out pretty quick. They also allow you to call ahead and do take-out which is...
