I tried the Lunch Buffett at this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. This place is purely vegetarian and is affiliated with the famous chef - ‘Vishnu Manohar’. This restaurant famously serves ‘Maharashtrian food cooked home style with healthy ingredients’. Let me be frank with you guys, I just avoid going to places that are purely vegetarian because you never know what you’ll end up getting, sometimes the food is sweet, sometimes the greens that they offer are not a part of your diet or maybe they don’t have enough options for you to get excited about. So, when my friends suggested this place, I was a bit skeptical, to say the least. This restaurant just blew me away. Let’s talk about food; they had a couple of fried appetizers (mix pakora and palak pakora) Dal, rice, a few entrees (Chloe, aloo-bhindi and cabbage) and a couple of deserts (Gulab Jamun and Mango phirni) along with papad and soup. I never got the chance to try the soup but my god the rest of the food was delicious. The aloo-bhindi was the star of the afternoon. It was authentic Maharashtrian tasting and the potatoes were so soft it would just melt in our mouths. Dal had the home style flavor and tasted excellent with rice and Chloe. Over to the deserts section, Gulab Jamun was typical and nothing fancy, but the mango phirni was just unbelievable. Papad was ok, I mean it’s papad, what more do you expect? For $15, this Buffett was an absolute steal. The soul of Maharashtra can be felt after tasting the food here. I wanted to try the much talked about Misal-Pav but I was told they don’t serve that during lunch Buffett which was a bummer. Not everything on the menu would be called cheap but it’s reasonable. There are times in your life living outside of your home town that you wish for some ‘Ghar ka Khana’ (home cooked food) and this place just hits you with nostalgia. It’s almost an exact replica of what you would get, food wise at least, in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The authentic Dal with rice, the bhendi sabji paired with soft, home cooked style roti and the Chloe would just remind you of home. The lunch Buffett was extremely satisfying and kept us full for the rest of the evening (quite literally). Do give this place a visit if you’re in the mood to give Maharashtrian food a try.

Nestled in the heart of Texas, Flavors of Maharashtra brings authentic Maharashtrian cuisine to the Lone Star State for the first time. This addition to the local dining scene offers an immersive culinary journey, transporting diners straight to the vibrant streets of Pune and Mumbai. On my recent visit, I had the pleasure of sampling some of their standout dishes: Sabudana Vada, Kokam Sarbat, Vada Pav, and their best dish, Shrikhand Puri, there were several other dishes which were authentic such as Thalipith, Misal pav Vada Pav: The highlight of my meal was undoubtedly the Vada Pav. Often referred to as the Indian burger, this classic street food dish did not disappoint capturing the essence of Mumbai's street food culture. Shrikhand Puri: The crowning glory of the meal was the Shrikhand Puri. It’s an absolute must-try for anyone looking to experience the pinnacle of Maharashtrian cuisine. Overall Experience: Flavors of Maharashtra is a gem for anyone looking to indulge in authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. While they do offer a range of dishes, I would highly recommend sticking to the Maharashtrian specialties rather than venturing into the North Indian options. Doing so ensures you fully experience the rich and unique flavors that this cuisine has to offer. The combination of delicious food, refreshing beverages, and impeccable service makes it a must-visit spot. Highly recommended for an authentic taste of Maharashtra!

Was our first time here, as we wanted to go off the beaten track and try something new. Hard heard about this place on Funasia Radio, and since we lived in Maharashtra for about 5 years, wanted to reminisce the old days. The staff are super courteous, and the interiors have been decked really well, and the finish on the walls was like in the village walls, a nice touch. We went crazy on the appetizers first: Kothimbir Vada: small green fried cubes with a good coriander flavor and has a nice crunchy bite to it, complemented well by Coriander chutney. Misal Pav: this one really was assembled well, and was as close to local Mumbai and Pune flavors as you can get here. The misal had great spunk, and flavor. Thoroughly enjoyed. Saboodana Kichdi: this was as authentic as you can get. I used to share my Marathi colleagues lunch boxes and the kichdi here was as close to home made as you can get. We asked for some fired chilies to complement the kichdi. Definitely do try this. To close the dinner, we chose to try the Thali Peeth and Poori Shrikhand. Both were authentic flavors and were very tasty. Overall the place is super cozy, nice responsive staff, and prices are very reasonable . For all the items we ate, our total bill with a 20% tip was $40+, which we didn’t feel was too bad. This experience has made us want to go for the weekend buffet next .

Drove long distance with family to visit this restaurant with very high expectations to get authentic Maharashtrian food. Very pleased to find Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Statue and Gajanan Maharaj photo at entrance. Ordered Misal, Zunka Bhakar and Pavbhaji, verified with member taking order to ensure that he got it correct. Pavbhaji was served after 10 minutes, taste was not up to the mark but it is ok (as I was expecting Maharashtrian dishes to be more authentic) after few minutes one member came with misal pav but when he saw one member is eating pav bhaji just went back with no dialogue, we were surprised. When nothing was served for next 15-20 minutes (which is @30 minutes from order) checked with server (I need to go and approach him as no one was showing up since long) then he just casually answered that he mixed it up and returned misal assuming that we already got it (he assumed on his own that pav bhaji which was served to one of the family member is misal not checking his orders or having a single word with us). he then went to kitchen and got the same plate which he was carrying 20 minutes back, as plate was kept as is neither it was hot anymore and all farsan put in the gravy is almost at dissolving stage. It was shocking to have no apology neither care to provide fresh and dish in right shape and temperature. after these 2 negative experiences, hoping for last one to positive to have sweet end. After waiting for 10 more minutes need to check with server again about third item, by that time other members from my family have almost finished their eating. Surprisingly, server asked me wait as he need to check if there any item still pending to serve, it was shocking that after 40 minutes from order server was not even aware that customer is waiting for the item. (It was not a rush hour or situation like full restaurant, we were only customer when we reached restaurant and one more family came after 30 minutes, that it). 10 minutes after the reminder, I got Zunka bhakari but any Maharashtrian can not call or acknowledge it as bhakari. It was flatten dough half cooked. It was the last thing I was expecting after this much wait. As per our family values, we are taught to not to waste any food irrespective we are eating at home or outside (besides that I was hungry and waiting for 45-50 minutes to get the dish), hence tried my best to finish the dish but could not do so even after my best attempts. It was my work experience of the Bhakri in my whole life........... overall it spoiled all the fun anticipated with Maharashtrian food. Service was already dull and then food put the final nail on our experience.

Experience was so bitter that I was not even thinking to put any time to put review... but after few days I thought that I should put review. I have great respect for Manoharji and would love to see Maharashtrian restaurant successful in USA. In case, tactical level gaps are not known to next level then how improvement can be done.

Investing my time with expectation that senior level member will make note of the same. Specifics and details are provided so that no ambiguity can be created by any operating member. Hope management/ Manoharji will take this feedback constructively and make necessary improvements.

Keeping my hopes alive that changes will be made and I could proudly recommend the Maharashtrian restaurant to my contacts (post...

Title: A Culinary Delight at Vishnuji Ki Rasoi: Authentic Maharashtrian Cuisine Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) Review: I recently had the pleasure of dining at Vishnuji Ki Rasoi, a haven for authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. Second Visit:-

An Honest Culinary Experience at Vishnuji ki Rasoi

Introduction: During my recent visit to Vishnuji ki Rasoi, I had high expectations for a delightful dining experience. With the added bonus of Vishnuji's special visit from India, the anticipation for an exceptional meal was sky-high. However, I must admit that I left the restaurant feeling rather disappointed for various reasons.

Ambiance and Seating: As I arrived alone, I didn't feel particularly welcomed, and I was assigned a corner table. While I appreciated the opportunity to enjoy my meal in a peaceful setting, I found the placement of the table somewhat inconvenient. The adjacent table was positioned too closely, requiring me to maneuver carefully each time I needed to access the buffet.

Food Quality and Presentation: Regrettably, the quality of some dishes fell short of expectations. The freshly prepared rotis were overcooked, resulting in a dry and difficult-to-tear texture. Additionally, the pani puri's water was excessively cold, causing discomfort in my teeth. The accompanying puris were fried to an excessively crispy consistency, reminiscent of papads, and were greasier than desired. To my dismay, I discovered a hair in the raita, which was quite off-putting. The pulav, intended to be a fragrant rice dish, unfortunately resembled a wet khichadi. Furthermore, the green chili provided was inadvertently mashed, suggesting that the staff may have been pressed for time when preparing the condiments.

Highlights: Despite the disappointments, I did find solace in a few well-executed dishes. The raita was delightful, striking the right balance of flavors and textures. The green and red chutneys were commendable, adding a punch of spice and enhancing the overall meal experience. The white rice and daal were also satisfactory, delivering the expected taste and consistency. Finally, the shrikhand and rice kheer concluded the meal on a sweet note, showcasing the kitchen's ability to prepare traditional Indian desserts to a satisfactory standard.

Conclusion: In summary, my visit to Vishnuji ki Rasoi, while brimming with initial excitement, left much to be desired. The subpar quality of some dishes, coupled with the less-than-ideal seating arrangement, hindered the overall dining experience. However, it is worth mentioning that certain dishes stood out, such as the raita, chutneys, white rice, daal, shrikhand, and rice kheer, which demonstrated the restaurant's capability to deliver delicious fare. I hope that the management takes note of the areas that require improvement and works towards enhancing the overall dining experience for...
