My mom and I wanted to try a different sushi spot. We decided to give poke and sushi a try. We went in on March 4th. My mom is allergic to all shell fish. We let the person who was ringing us up know about her allergies. We've order 3 different combo's of sushi. We literally told them to please do not mixed her sushi with any of the others. When our order was fulfilled, the you lady apologized because they mixed my mom's sushi went the California rolls. We specify over and over again please do not mixed my mom's sushi with any other sushi. So they took the sushi to the back and the young lady went to tell the owner. The young lady came back and said that he said the crab is imitation crab that's in the California rolls. My mom is still allergic to it even if it's imitation crab. So, the took the sushi again to the back and they young lady came out and said it was ready. We went home and my mom tounge swelled after the second bite of eating her sushi. Even though it didn't swell to the point that her throat closed. They should have listened. I believe after they took the sushi back they just transferred everything to different containers. They didn't properly fixed it. Even though my mom had a mild allergic reaction. It xould have been worst. They should have fix it the right way. If I could give them a zero star I would. Just because they didn't listen to...
Read moreWhen I entered Oshi Poke Bowl, there was no turning back. From the outside, the windows have a bit of shade on them. You can't truly see inside unless you step in and open the door.
Immediately my nose was greeting with the freshest of ginger and other amazing scents.
I loved the atmosphere. Coming in, there is a light blue paint with Koi pond fish and other types of fish painted on the wall. The tables have a bit of green and brown, overall pulling in amazing energy and a glow from the lights above. It's almost like your walking into someone's kitchen, with white tiles splashed behind the counter.
The service was great. Person told us about how to build a bowl and helped me to order the Tan Tan Ramen(so good if your wanting something a bit toasty and spicy). My husband ordered the "Build On" bowl which came to us in a metal bowl.
Everything was simple, clean and good service. Will come back with my family again. Next time try the Ramen. I will try the Tan Tan Ramen but with Chicken. It comes with Pork, (pork was very tender) but I am used to eating poultry so I'll get it with chicken next time.
Overall great visit and great food. Will...
Read moreOshi Poke Bowl is now my go-to for poke bowls in this area for a number of good reasons.
Most of the reviews indicate that ingredients are fresh. However, ingredients are fresh and fresh-frozen. The owners will help you with the distinction between those as you select your ingredients -- if that matters to you. I went with the fresh tuna. It was a solid choice.
The selection of rice is excellent. I went with the sweet brown rice but did note your standard white and sushi rice are available as well. I had that mixed up with some arugula. All of the things you mix in and top with looked very recently prepared. I took a hard stare at it, too.
There's a variety of Japanese and Asian drinks if the usual assortment of soda doesn't fill your need. The music was pretty interesting. Right out of the W Hotel lobby.
The owners -- absolutely the best. I felt very welcomed there. They even came around with a little plate of edamame for everyone in the restaurant to try. I could eat this every day.
Things I wish they had: roasted seaweed something fried -- dumplings, chicken nuggets, etc kimchi ;-)
Congrats on a great place. Looking forward to...
