We have been long time customers of Crust and Rena’s and it has always been one of our favorites. On average, we spend about 140.00 for a family of four. Last night, my father and I ordered the chicken Marsala. First, let me tell you our double breast chicken looked about as big a breast from a pigeon. Tiny, tough and dry. I never complain having worked in every aspect of the restaurant industry, including being a server and managing the Kitchen as well as font of the house. I asked the server if we could get some extra Marsala sauce to go with the chicken home because it was kind of dry. She said sure, it will be a dollar each. Okay, a buck is fine even though I think the sauce could have been gratis since the chicken was hardly sauced and dry. She brings sauce and it is less than 1 ounce of sauce. Also fine, whatever. Then we get the bill and we were changed 3.00 each for less than an ounce of sauce. I called the server over and asked her why it was $3 instead of $1. She said some sauces are more and she misquoted. I told her for $3, we can do without the paltry amount of sauce for $3. So she says she’s sorry and is cash back okay so we don’t have to run the credit card? Sure. So she comes back to our table where our meals are boxed up with the extra sauce. She gives us both $3 back and asked for the sauces back. I was flabbergasted that she asked for them back. I though she would just honor the price she told us. We spent 160.00 with tip and they are nickeling and diming us on sauce for dry chicken. As we left, I saw the sauce was on the busser’s station and probably thrown out(at least I would hope so since the sauce was in a to go box of half eaten food). Anyhow, I hope treating a frequent diner this way was worth the $6 of sauce you took back. We won’t be returning. Worst server/manager...
Read moreDear Crust Pizza Management, I am writing to express my disappointment with the service I received during my recent visit to your Alpharetta location. After hearing great things about your food from a coworker who shared an order with me weeks ago, I was excited to bring my management team from my company to experience your restaurant firsthand. Unfortunately, our visit was marred by poor service and an overall uncomfortable atmosphere.
As a group of people of color, we collectively felt that our race contributed to the treatment we received. The bartender, Gregg (a name I confirmed through another staff member after management declined to provide it), refused to serve us directly and insisted we wait for our server, which felt dismissive and unprofessional.
My order was incorrect, a fact confirmed by both my waiter and the manager, Darren. However, Darren was rude and seemed skeptical about the mistake. While he did eventually provide a refund when I requested one, he was not eager to rectify the situation or make amends for the poor experience. To make matters worse, our food was thrown away in front of us, which we all found to be shocking and disrespectful.
When I asked Darren for the name of the bartender and how to further escalate my complaint, he was unwilling to provide any helpful information, which only added to my frustration.
I hope you will take this feedback seriously and investigate these incidents. I would appreciate a response outlining what steps you will take to address this matter and to prevent similar experiences for future guests.
Thank you for your attention...
Read moreWe were introduced to Crust last week. I'll tell you that this is some of the most delicious Italian food I've had! The appetizers are just wonderful. The garlic knots and the mussels are sumptuous. The arancini di riso was perfectly seasoned and cooked. But the Calamari Fritti! Oh, my: I have never tasted better Calamari. That's one you absolutely must try.
I had the Penne Cieli entrée. A delightful combination of portobello mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, artichokes, & kalamata olives. Could not have asked for better preparation. Others at the table were equally pleased with their entrées, too. The 8oz fillet was perfectly prepared black and blue (is there any other way to cook a fillet?) The two raviolis (meat & chicken) were well enjoyed.
On my next visit, I'm going for the porkchop marsala.
There is a broad wine selection & we enjoyed two different bottles. Some at our table had a few specialty cocktails. While I don't recall what was ordered, my "discrete samplings" were yummy.
And I cannot forget to mention the service. The entire wait staff was perpetually on the move. This dynamism is always the sign of a well-run restaurant. And Crust is very clearly a well-run restaurant. Our table was checked up on frequently, not only by our assigned waiter but by those merely passing by. They were all really alert to our needs. The food and wine were amplified by this superior level of service.
In summary: a simply wonderful experience and we'll be back soon. So, go!...
