We have extremely mixed reviews on the Hamilton.
We stayed at the Hamilton for two nights following a last minute decision to tie the knot. We wanted someplace special to hunker down for a couple nights.
I’ve seen this beautiful hotel while shopping at my favorite shops across the street. So naturally it popped into my mind as the perfect place post nuptials. The esthetic did not disappoint. The rooms were exactly as the photos depict.
Our room was on the top floor and had a lovely view of the courtyard.
The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Such a delight each time we were greeted by them.
The valet was extremely quick. We liked being able to scan the ticket and by the time we were downstairs, our vehicle was ready.
Netflix is a great addition. Free high speed WiFi is a plus. However, I was charged for internet access the first day. I’m not well enough to dispute it.
Here is where the Hamilton drops the ball in my opinion.
When you speak with someone on the this place is not THAT posh that they can’t have ice tucked away on at least one floor. inquired if there isn’t anywhere in the hotel And ice. I was told to go to the bar to get ice. The bar closes at 11:00. Not everyone goes to sleep that early. The ice buckets are TINY. Big fail! What honeymooner wants to get dressed to walk down to the bar to get ice?
I asked so many people in that hotel if there was another option for drinks than the bar. Nobody said anything about that area right next to the front desk with the large variety of drinks and snacks for sale. I specifically asked about vending when I called ahead. When she said no, I asked what do people do about drinks. She said go to the bar. NOTHING about what they offered. The bar offers $6.39 sodas, thanks. It’s not the price, it’s that I don’t want a flimsy soda in a thin plastic cup. Gahhhh. It’s a little thing, but can make an impact.
Small issue with the phone extensions. When you hit the button for dining, housekeeping, they all rang the frontdesk. She seemed a bit irate about it. Perhaps it’s just the tone of her voice. She told me to call those extensions. I told her I did. So she transferred me. I was afraid to call down anymore for anything. There’s a button for room service but the same person told me they don’t have that, so I didn’t dare hit that button. Though she also is the one that wasn’t forthcoming about the drinks.
We loved there was a brunch offered. We happened to be the only people in the place. I ordered chicken and waffles and my husband some duck confit dish. He liked his. My waffle was literally like it was just pulled out of a bag and placed on the plate. No way was it toasted. It was a little below room temperature. The chicken was crispy, yet not warm. She brought me a maple syrup to go with the special honey dip they serve, however it was chilled too. Thankfully after two mimosas and the bliss of the occasion, I ate what I could and merrily went on my way. I’d rate that dish a 2. It was pathetic and the person that prepared it has no pride in what they do.
For people reading this, if you go to the Hamilton website that’s not the Hilton site, it’s a little misleading. It reads that there is room service, robes/slippers in the rooms (you need to call for them), and “other perks” whatever those may be escapes me. Also that the Roaring Social is part of the Hamilton. It was pointed out to me in a VERY specific manner that it is another entity that has NOTHING to do with the Hamilton. Even though it’s on their website where it shows “Roaring Social, located on the Speakeasy Level of The Hamilton Hotel, is a one-of-a-kind entertainment destination where a quick trip down an elevator takes you back 100 years to a time when both music and libations flowed freely — if secretly.”
All in all it’s a nice place. I think it attempts to carry itself off as a bit more posh than it...
Read moreLet me preface this by saying we stayed a few nights over Christmas. Not really needing much, just a convenient location and a need to burn up some Amex Credits and points. I booked the room in advance off the Amex travel site and this hotel is listed under their Hotel Collection so I didn’t bother to really do any research and read any reviews. However the day before checking in I made the mistake of ready numerous reviews across several sites and immediately felt like I made a major mistake booking the room. In an effort to combat several seemingly reoccurring issues I ran out and purchased some Apple Air Tags and placed them on my car keys and in the car. No way I was letting the Valet lose my $500 key fob or misplace my vehicle.
I will confirm that if you do need a closet that’s greater the 12 inches wide you won’t be happy with the place as they are indeed small.
The hotel is pretty darn clean. It’s listed as a 4 Star hotel, I do have the opinion that it’s not quite a 4 Star hotel.
The Food and Beverage options during our stay were pretty much nonexistent but I had no expectations of gourmet sugar plums dancing in my head being that it was Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. They did manage to put together room service that was edible. It seems like they package all room service in to go containers and to me this doesn’t scream 4 Star hotel.
The valet promptly delivered our vehicle and never lost the keys.
I found the room clean and spacious, with exception of the closet but I managed to hang my coat with no issue. Plenty of hot water and water pressure.
This particular room did allow a lot of light in at night despite having multiple roller shades.
Softer towels would have been nice.
Of the 6 staff members that we interacted with all but one were friendly. The lady ( Linda was that you?) who delivered our room service was extremely nice.
Beds were comfortable, pillows were less than
20 years old so have no fear sleeping here for the night.
Check in was easy, room upgrades and property credits acknowledged as Amex THC and Hilton Honors members all passed along...
Read moreThe Hamilton was booked for my stay in Alpharetta as I was to attend a 2-day training up the street. I arrived at around 930 p.m. and was greeted by an older blond woman whose name may be Linda. ||I shall say that Linda did not appear very friendly and welcoming upon greeting me. She seemed rather cold. ||She asked for my ID and questioned whether the address on the reservation profile was correct. I told her I did not know about the address on profile as my employer had made the reservation. She also asked whether the phone number was correct and it was not. She made the necessary corrections, then proceeded to tell me about the morning breakfast from 7 - 11 a.m., the on-site restaurant that serves food until 10 p.m., and the 24-hour market around the corner from the lobby desk. Interestingly, Linda's demeanor changed as it did appear that she seemed more friendlier to the next person that came in to check-in. ||Not having dined, I walked to the restaurant and placed a to-go order. The Hispanic woman that attended me was very welcoming. The grilled chicken wrap was delicious. Very tasty and filling. And my daughters reported their Korean BBQ chicken wings was quite good.||I do wish The Hamilton had self-parking as finding street parking is hard. The room was nicely furnished and clean, albeit, you could hear noises from upstairs or from the room next door. This was a bit pestersome, but the noise eventually ceased. The bed was comfortable. Its location is next to a few restaurants with an enjoyable downtown ambiance. Oh, and their check-out is 12 p.m., but should you desire a later check-out, the charge is $50. ||On the last day of our stay, I went to my training, but my partner remained. He was not even able to stay til 12 p.m. as the house cleaning lady kept knocking on the door a little bit after 11 a.m. So, not only does The Hamilton want to charge a fee for late check-out, but also hurries their clients out of their room pre check-out time. A bit ironic. ||Overall, my stay induced...
