UPDATED 2025 Would not recommend. Went back for Father's Day brunch in 2025. Lowered my review from 4 stars to 2 stars. Restaurant was dark and dated and the parking lot (which was already tight) was a disaster area. No valet option if that is your thing. The spots are tight. The staff was surly like they worked at a snooty private country club and this was the non-member invitation day and they were put out by all the extra work. The only smiles I saw were when they were asking for money--and even then it was pro forma. This was contagious because even the customers were surly and non-smiling. It was like everyone was being forced to be there. The price for bunch was $75 per person and that was about twice what it should be for the food and service provided. The Mimosa at $12 (extra) was the highlight and it was good. The boiled shrimp was also good. The other food was acceptable to fine, but no better than any run-of-the-mill chain restaurant. If you are going to sell scrambled eggs (the only option available: no fried, poached, or omelet station) for $75 then your scrambled eggs need to be awesome. These eggs were not awesome. I could make these eggs at home. The prime rib was good but sliced very thin. The ham was dried out and more jerky than ham. They let the food run out on each pass, so I had to go back just to see if they put more out to complete the meal. Waffles were out, all deserts were out, I never saw a biscuit nor gravy (a Southern staple). No waffle station and no omelet station takes this whole experience down almost to interstate motel free breakfast with each stay. The food was much better than the Springhill Suites, but that is a very, very low bar to surmount. The very best part of the trip was the person who brought me. She is fabulous. I should have saved us the drive and $150 (plus mimosa, tax, and tip) and made breakfast in bed for her at home. It was very loud in the dining area, so even a screaming child would be unlikely to disturb anyone not at the same table.
Looks like I should have read my old review before going again. At least I did not get a Bloody Mary this time.
OLD REVIEW Went there for Father's Day brunch. Food was plentiful and the breakfast dishes were delicious. The lunch dishes were very good. The Bloody Mary was awful. Georgia needs the Alabama law about alcohol content in drinks. This was tomato juice and an olive with table salt on the rim. It would need a lab test to prove there was vodka in it. Stick to beer and wine that can't be...
Read moreCame here for an extremely special event, and made a reservation ealier in the day. We arrived 2 hrs and 30 before close. Online you can make mention of such special occasions and we did. We arrived 5 minutes early. There is a coat check, the hostess was sweet, but I will say, didn’t seem like she even wanted to be there. We were promptly seated and given the extensive wine and cocktails menu and food menus as well. We ordered the artisanal bread, and came out quick, I already knew I was gonna order the crab cakes while my s/o didn’t know yet. Waiter came back to check so I asked his opinion on what wine would be good to go with my crab, and he said a white, I agreed and he came back after a few to take my s/os order. There was(and I’m guessing here) an influencer there as well sat two tables behind us. Keep in mind there was legit maybe 20 people eating in this entire restaurant, she was a lone patron. (Not saying her money is any less better then mine, but it was a once in a lifetime event that some of us may not even experience, ten year anniversary) she had her flash on her phone the entire time in her hand facing my s/os eye, after easily 45 minutes of my s/o adjusting and bending and obviously being very distracted and uncomfortable, we asked our waiter to say something, and said all he can do is ask, albeit I agree. It’s a very nice restaurant and there should be some sort of decorum here. 10 minutes later he is taking pictures of her and her food…come on… that’s just almost disrespectful, we said nothing as we were close to just leaving anyways. Asked for the check and paid with my very expensive credit card I had just received recently. Now after all that and paying 200+ with over a 25% tip (not deserved) he lied told me he gave my credit card back and made me look foolish in a nice restaurant looking on the ground for my card. Only to have another server walk up with my card and hand it to me. Food was delicious had the chocolate mousse cake to go, was amazing service was terrible. Honestly Stoney River is cheaper, and the service is amazing and there’s also table and main not far with Georgia famous fried chicken and service that can’t be beat for the same if not cheaper food. They also don’t certify the cook of the stake from medium well and above. My s/o ordered medium and as per usual with any stake restaurant it comes out almost rare. Will probably never go back unless someone...
Read moreOur family dinner at Ray's was unfortunately marked by unprofessional service that overshadowed the restaurant's charming atmosphere and decent food. Although I prefer not to leave unsatisfactory reviews, I do feel compelled to share some honest feedback, as this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we've had.
My husband had been wanting to try this place out for ages so I was able to get his family together for a dinner. However, I must express my dissatisfaction with the attitude and professionalism of our assigned server. Our server disappeared for lengthy stretches, leaving us waiting 45 minutes for him to take our order - any time we did see him he complained that they had him "running around." Understandable, no problem.
Despite clearly expressing all food restrictions, my husband's order turned out to have the exact item that was mentioned as a dietary restriction. We decided it would be better to resolve it on our own, rather than delay and risk anything else further. Not sure if there was training issue, but the wrong dishes arrived, appropriate cutlery was missing for key dishes, and in a move that truly topped it off, our server grabbed my cup by the rim where I'd been drinking to refill it. Gross.
While these errors could have been easily rectified and forgiven due to it being a busy night, what truly marred our experience was the demeanor of our waiter. Throughout the evening, we encountered dismissive attitudes and even witnessed eye rolls (seriously?), leaving us feeling unwelcome and undervalued as customers. Observing attentive servers at nearby tables made our neglect even more noticeable. To be honest, had it not been for the pleasant service from other staff members, I would be reluctant to offer a 20% tip to my server. It felt like we had to actively seek his attention and ask for everything (which eventually had to be directed to others) rather than receiving proactive service at a restaurant of such caliber.
Setting aside this issue, the layout and ambience of the restaurant was quite nice. The dishes were well-portioned but I'm not sure if anyone was able to actually enjoy their meal due to subpar service. As much as I am willing to give it another try in the hope that the next server will exhibit a higher level of professionalism and attentiveness, I am doubtful that my...
