I rarely visit Bahama Breeze as I am not a big fan of Caribbean cuisine, although I like spicy food. In the past we have had long waits for everything, and especially for our food once it has actually been ordered. However, on this occasion my wife and I were pleasantly surprised and here are the reasons why.
We (a party of five) were seated instantly, but our table was too large and circular - more like for 8 guests, or more. So, we asked for a smaller table so that our friends and ourselves could converse together without raising our voices. The host indicated there might be a small delay of five minutes as they had to open up another area once the server had arrived to start her shift, which was acceptable, but this never occurred as our server came in right at that instant and we were moved to one of her tables there and then.
Our server (Kendra) saw to our orders straight away and even though we constantly barraged her with requests throughout our time there, she managed us professionally and without losing her smile! She was the perfect example of a server and I hope her manager can see that. (An aside: Our original server - Hanna - at the larger table, was just as pleasant and proffesional even though she lost our custom after serving our drinks!)
We all enjoyed our meals, mine being the Honey Sriracha Fried Chicken Sandwich with fries. (see photo)
At first I thought the chicken had been over-fried but it was perfect, and the brioche bun was the ideal complement. Chick-fil-A, take note: This is how to do it! Even the fries were cut and fried "just right."
Kendra kept checking on us, but not overly - and not too soon, as in the first bite which seems to happen at most restaurants.
Overall our experience was an excellent one, and I can only assume that somewhere up the management chain someone realised things had to improve, because today was a huge improvement over our past visits!
If the high standards are maintained the next time we dine there, I shall amend my rating to five stars, but feel I have to stop at four stars in case this time was just a one-off....
Read moreNew review 03/25/25 Went in with two coworkers and was attended by Jill M. She was friendly and got our orders going quickly because HH was nearly done. My coworkers ordered the conch fritters and beef empanadas on their bills, and both these dishes were delicious. I ordered a Moscata sangria white ($6), strawberry lemonade breeze ($4) and the seafood paella ($24). The drinks were good but that paella's rice was crappy. You know when it overcooks and there are hard pieces? That was this rice and the burnt taste lingers still in my mouth. It was not good so I ate the seafood (4 pieces of medium scallops, 6 medium shrimp and 5 mussels), pieces of chicken and sausage because I still needed to eat. I truly tried to eat my meal but had to bring up the fact that it was not good. Manager David S, came by and stated that most of my meal was eaten.. sir, I ate the seafood parts because I was hungry but the rice was still there. He offered to help take comp off for the rice which I was fine with but... they added the conch fritters my coworker ordered and then "comped" that, so I still wound up paying full price on the terrible plate of burnt rice. I paid it because I was done and irritated by this point. I am not the type of person to try to weasel out of paying a meal, but when it's bad, other folks are also complaining, and then you get defensive at the table... sorry, but that is not quality service. August 2024 Took my nephew here after a movie on July 4th. I have not visited BB for a good two years. He got the new item "house made Johnny cakes, served with habanero-maple syrup, cinnamon mashed sweet potatoes and pickled veggies," and I had the full portion of jerk shrimp and pasta. The service was great, our server was Kaiyen and was very friendly. The sauce on my pasta was a bit watery, and it gave me a small bellyache the next day, but it had a lot of shrimp, which was great. My nephew cleaned his plate and said it was delicious, I tasted a small bite of the chicken, which was...
Read moreIt had been a while since I visited a Bahama Breeze. Their menu has variety and mostly everyone can find something they could eat.
This past couple of weeks I visited twice and one experience was so much better than the other. This past Thursday everything from our food, server and service was good and we left with a good experience. Inara our server was very attentive, pleasant and she checked on us often :) On Saturday night, it was another story... Our server was not very attentive, he did not check on us, he made a comment that was not respectful toward one of the parties and he rushed us to pay the bill. The restaurant was not busy and we had more than plenty of time to wrap up and pay (we were finished 1 hr before closing).
As for food, we had the tostones con pollo, salmon tostada salad, tequila infused salmon heard it was delicious (not pictured), churrasco steak heard it is very good (not pictured), the ultimate margarita, the berry sangria (both drinks very tasty) and wrapped up with the chocolate island for dessert (yummy and chocolately). As for the jersey chicken pasta, I did not care for it. The sauce was bland, the chicken tasted like it was cold and out of the bad tossed with the sauce and not fresh. I will definitely not have it again.
A good choice, but make sure you get a good server for a...
