My wife spent a week in the hospital & was on a cardiac diet. It is extremely bland, because apparently no one knows how to cook with herbs or reductions. She wanted a burger when she was released & I dislike the usual fastfood choices. I wanted something different, something better like Backyard Burgers or Culver's. I had seen the sign for Grattin Dog all week on my way home from the hospital. Normally I wouldn't have taken a chance, but when I checked out the reviews online, I decided "why not".
I'm so glad I did! It's located in an out building in the parking lot of a Citgo gas station, so your first thought is it's got to be a roach motel, but you couldn't be more wrong! Open the door & you immediately smell deliciousness! There is no inside seating & in the era of COVID, that's not a bad thing(shared seating outside). Besides, it's like ordering from a food truck. Ordered a single for the wife & a Grattin Burger for me. We took our orders home & our mouths were watering the whole way!
So let's discuss the negatives:
If you don't like any pink in your burger, order it well done. Because of the wonderful sauces they use it's going to be a very messy meal. It also means the soft & delicious buns disintegrate pretty fast. That can probably be resolved by eating your meal in the parking lot. Their prices are only slightly higher than the big 3, but in my opinion, well worth it
All in all, the negatives are minor.
Everything else is a positive. They use fresh, seasoned & hand formed patties, not frozen preformed patties like the big 3. Their sauces combined make a delicious flavour concoction that's hard to describe, but they work together perfectly. Their fries are perfectly seasoned & crisp on the outside & fluffy on the inside. They cook your meal fresh & too your specified wellness, no premade meals sitting under a heating lamp.
If you're like me & prefer a homemade meal to fast food, then give them a try. I can't wait to go back & try some of their...
Read moreI ordered from here for the first time last night. My friends son raves about the place so I decided to give it a try. We ordered at approximately 5pm. I will start with the positives, the fries were a thick cut which I liked and they have Coke Zero and many restaurants don’t. I ordered the Grattin Burger. I was expecting a big, juicy burger; what I got was anything but! I ordered my burger medium rare, that’s not what I got! The burger I got was well done, dried out and tough, like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for too long! It was supposed to come with a pink sauce (whatever that is), pineapple sauce, garlic sauce, ketchup and mayonnaise. I had the 3 sauces omitted which meant that there should have been ketchup and mayonnaise, there wasn’t. There wasn’t a slice of American cheese like was stated on the menu and no onions. On every burger I have ever ordered that had a fried egg on it, the egg was cooked over easy. This one was not, it was over hard and the slice of provolone cheese was melted over the top of the hamburger bun which made it very difficult to eat. My hands were a greasy mess when I was finished. I only ate about half and my stomach is still complaining about the experience this morning! I rarely complain about anything but when I pay $12+ for a burger, fries and a soda, I expect to get what I ordered. That was not the case last night. I’m not likely to order from here again and will not encourage my friends to order from there either. Very...
Read moreWhen visiting the Orlando area it can be overwhelming searching for a place eat at times. If you can think of a chain restaurant that exists, odds are there is at least one in the area. Add in the privately owned businesses and you've got a big board the size of some smaller countries. Grattin Dog is a small spot in a little strip mall in the parking lot of a gas station. Sounds like a potentially sketchy place for a meal? Uhm...maybe think again.
The little spot had a few stools to sit at and there was outdoor seating. The owners seemed very friendly and they were helpful with suggestions and explaining items on the menu. The name of the business is Grattin Dog but by the owners' suggestion, we ended up getting some burgers. I also had a fun apple soda that was imported so that was cool.
The burgers were excellent. Clearly hand-pattied as you can see by the photos and very good quality meat. They didn't look great visually necessarily as far as symmetrical, but the flavor was excellent. They even had one with the cheese cooked to the outside of the bun and a fried egg inside. They all had this little potato stick type things on them as well which were super tasty. This video also was one of our best performing on TikTok haha.
The price was solid, the people were nice, and the food was excellent. Zero reason why anyone shouldn't want to come here if they enjoy burgers, dogs, and fries. Grattin Dog - Altamonte Springs, Florida -...
