China Wok — Restaurant in Alton

I just had the worst experience in my restaurant history here. I stopped in to order a to go order, but wasn’t sure what I wanted and had never been here. The lady at the counter was very rude and impatient and I felt extremely uncomfortable asking questions abt their food and like she just wanted me to hurry and order. So I got a to go menu and said it’s okay, never mind and went to go sit in the car while I decided. She says if I don’t want her food to bring the to go menu back - I was thinking what?? So I continued to my car - then I hear her telling me I am stealing the to go menu?!? Yes I wanted the food and needed to sit due to health issues and to not be badgered or have an irate impatient lady treating me poorly while I decided what I wanted - but apparently it is unacceptable to not stand at a counter while being rushed to order. If you walk out the door to sit in your car with a paper menu your a thief. I’m appalled I was accused of stealing a paper to go menu just because I wanted to sit in my car to look at it - that is not normal and terrible customer service and people skills! I took the menu back in and will never be a customer there. Maybe they have good food - maybe they don’t. I won’t ever find out - if you want courteousy - this is...

I've lived in the area for 8 years and just tried this place, and honestly, I think I'll be coming here from now on! 1) They are super friendly. 2) The food was great! The veggies were not over cooked, the sauces were tasty, the meat was perfectly cooked. Everything seemed so fresh compared to other take outs in the area. (I highly suggest the Ming's Beef). 3) Bonus points for having Vietnamese food! Their spring rolls were great, and I can't wait to try the Pho. * The only thing I'll change next time is to ask them to make my spicy food spicier (don't be afraid to make my nose run)! If you're a newbie, call and order your food, and when you go to pickup, call when you're in the parking lot and they will bring it out to you, (wearing a mask - thank you)! Can't wait...

I had the fresh spring rolls with Hoisin sauce and they were a treat. These rolls were filled with fresh cut pork and shrimp, stuffed with crisp vegetables and herbs that paired perfectly with the sauce.

The owners are always friendly and diligent. They are determined to make sure you are getting the peak flavor experience. I've seen them turn away orders when they were super busy as it would have sacrificed quality. If you order to go they work hard to time your order to arrival time so nothing sits under a heat lamp.

I've had the pho before as well and it a delight. There are only a few Vietnamese items on the menu but each one I've tried has been prepared...
