Gives me no pleasure to say I was grossly disappointed. If you are a restaurant, then make your food, please. The brisket was good and the best thing in the whole place. The pulled, shredded chicken breast was nothing special. Not BBQ chicken, just shredded white meat. The sides, however..... I easily recognized they use Costco potato salad. I can tell because Costco potato salad tastes the same and they don't cook the potato enough to stop being crunchy. Not a fan. Do you really think we cannot tell you just opened a can of pork and beans and slapped the word "baked" on the menu? And those commercial dinner rolls sliced for making mini sandwiches? Seriously? Those pasty gummy rolls are NASTY!!! The dog liked them though. I didn't try the pulled pork. not usually a fan of that anywhere. If I want some mediocre but tender beef brisket I will be back but there was nothing else worth the money I spent there and I spent $40 for a take out meal for 2 worth less...

This place is back on top of its game like when they first started out. The food is wonderful these days. I've been going there again on a regular basis for the past several months. I always get pulled pork and it is always just right. My favorite sides are the spectacular cole slaw, baked beans (add a little bbq sauce to perk them up), and - when available - the smoked corn on the cob is outrageously good. It's a neat place with not much character, the help is increasingly friendly, and the food comes out in a timely manner and is always correct. Carver's easily fits in with all the great barbeque places in the St. Louis area and it is one of my "go to"...
Read moreThe only thing good was the brisket was nice and tender. I had to look at the receipt when paying because I couldn't believe the price of two dinners for mom and I. I assumed it would be reasonable which is my fault. I should have looked at their pricing so I could have went somewhere more reasonable for brisket. The sides were nothing to brag on at all and the BlackBerry cobbler had huge seeds in every single bite. I pitched it three quarters through. There are less seeded blackberries out there. The lady that I paid at the counter was so mad at something and it showed to me and about 4 others around me. I live in Godfrey and this was my first time to try the restaurant but I won't be back. I'd rather drive to Edwardsville or Fairview...
