Update: We returned to try it again. They either fixed the thermostats or learned how to use it as the atmosphere was comfortable. The salsa was still fantastic and the service was much improved. My wife and I share a plate of the Supreme Nachos and I ordered a soft shell taco. Both were outstanding. I will say the food took a little time to come out compared to other Mexican restaurants but I consider this a plus as we were able to enjoy socializing and drinking our drinks. If you had a bad experience definitely give them another try, they are listening to customers and eliminating the new business kinks. See you soon!

Decided to visit the new Mexican restaurant in Altoona. It was busy but there were plenty of empty tables and we were seated immediately. We waited about 15 minutes for the host to come over and take our drink order and he returned quickly with the water and soda but the House Margarita took another 15 minutes. Finally, they took our food order. We requested more chips and salsa as we were sitting there for a while and ran out, they brought that out right before we got our food. I will say the salsa was fantastic. I ordered the Hawaiian Fajitas and the wife ordered the Altoona Special. The Fajitas were a hit the shrimp were a good size and very flavorful. The wife liked the Special but the put a sauce over the chimichangas which made them soggy and something in the meat chimichanga was rather spicy for her. I give being a new restaurant to the service issues. The food was good but nothing stood out from the numerous other Mexican restaurants in town. The one con was the needed to turn the heat on as it was extremely cold in the restaurant to the point my wife put her gloves on. We will return, hoping the...

I visit Mexican restaurants everywhere I go to find the most authentic flavors in each town. I was excited about trying this place because of the rave reviews but was left disappointed and hungry. It was 2:15pm on a Tuesday, the server was attentive and very polite, even enough to notice that I barely finished my Carne Asada. She did ask if anything was wrong with the food and I didn’t provide feedback as I wasn’t looking for anything to be comped or to berate her in any way, I just wanted a good meal. The food lacked flavor significantly, down to the steak being severely overcooked (SEVERELY) and had ZERO seasoning (I had to season with my salt and pepper at the table). Maybe the cook was having an off day but I could get a better steak at a Denny’s which was very disappointing (I never order steaks from Denny’s, by the way). Also, the margarita shaker has the Longhorn Steakhouse logo on it…very odd and confusing for their brand (actually, I could go for a Longhorn steak at the moment).

I know they are new and understand the need to work out their issues, but I won’t be back anytime soon as my bill was $35 and the quality and flavor equated to a $15 meal total (including the liquor). This review is NOT to discourage people from visiting this establishment but to forewarn that they still have work to do to enhance flavors and experience overall. This is a tough economy so just give it some time and I’m sure it will improve. In the meantime, enjoy the other Mexican establishments in the area so everyone can stay...

We were excited to try this place, based on the great reviews. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience. When we arrived around 6:00 pm on Wednesday, July 10 the place was pretty full, but had several booths and tables that were empty but not cleaned. We waited at the hostess stand as instructed to to on the "Please Wait to Be Seated" sign. The young man at the stand was working at the register and did not look up or acknowledge us. We waited a few minutes....a couple servers walked by us, but also did not acknowledge us. After about 5 minutes waiting with no greeting, the host did seat us at a booth in the far corner of the restaurant. A booth near us was leaving and my husband noticed a full margarita on the table and jokingly said to the other customer "Hey--you didn't finish your margarita!". The customer said "It is TERRIBLE!" as he walked off. We continued to look at our menu....and waited....and waited. After 7 minutes with no server even coming by, we got up and left. Maybe this is just a fluke, but we do not have a good impression of this restaurant after...

Our server was very nice and timely and the general atmosphere is good. As someone who doesn’t usually like salsa, I didn’t mind theirs! Unfortunately, the food was average. I ordered birria tacos, which are usually a relatively traditional meal. I was sad to be disappointed! They absolutely aren’t bad, there’s nothing off putting about them. However, they’re nothing special. They were the most white people birria tacos I’ve ever had, without a lot of specific flavor. The meat was tender and juicy, but without many seasonings. It mostly tasted like pot roast. This is the first time I’ve been there and I will certainly go back to try some of the other things, and I recommend others try it too! Just don’t expect anything even approaching authentic with the tacos. I hope the rest of the menu is more traditional because I can see the potential!

The food is delicious and you get huge portions of everything. I went basic and got the dinner combo with an enchilada, burrito, and quesadilla. Everything was great, the meat isn’t seasoned too heavily. The cheese they use in the quesadilla is so creamy and melty. We also got an entree quesadilla. It had so much flavor for being chicken based. The chips and salsa were great, not too salty or spicy. We also got a cheese dip. This one is good if you like the really runny queso. It did not harden the whole time we were there. We went around 3pm on a Sunday and there were only a few customers at that time. Service gets a star taken off as we requested more chips and we never received them. We also didn’t have our waters refilled during our time there as well. Overall, I would definitely recommend!!
