Billy Sims BBQ — Restaurant in Altus

This is only my second time being to this restaurant and I have been here almost two years. My son introduced me to this wonderful place. My first visit I had the Frito Chili Pie which was wonderful. I don't know how to describe the chili, other than to say it was delicious. My second visit was on 9 November, 2020. I got the Schooner Salad with Turkey. I was unsure of the Barbecue Ranch dressing that was recommended, so I requested Ranch, but the man making my salad said I had to try the Barbecue Ranch too. He was right, phenomenal. The salad itself was good without dressing, but you add that blended ranch and it makes all the flavors (Romaine, corn, onion, croutons...) pop. The boss needs to go on the show Under Cover Boss. Being a big Billy Sims fan for years, I always wanted to try Billy Sim's BBQ. I finally did this week. I ordered a 1/2 Rack of ribs and a Caesar salad. I paid and received my order. The customer service was very disappointing. Not friendly at all or inviting. Get back to my hotel. There was no BBQ sauce, no utensils, and no napkins. So I called them and told them, but their response was that we have sauce. So I drove back and went inside. Some young man who was cleaning the place just said the sauce is right there. No hospitality what's so ever. One good thing. The Ribs were tender and good, but the salad was not. Tried this place twice thinking the first time was a fluke but after the second try, I knew the quality is what it is. The meat is dry to the point that you really have to smother it with BBQ sauce to help it go down better. Both times I tried the food was with the 3 meat combo so I can safely say that this is the quality that you'll consistently get.

For the price you are paying, the quality and portion of meat is disappointing. The only one that I enjoyed enough was the sausage and their banana pudding stackers. At least the BBQ sauces are decent (Especially the spicy one).

If you are dining in, just be prepared to get smoked inside since they don't seem to have ventilation to purge the smoke out.

It's disappointing that this is the only BBQ place...
