2021 Visit: Another great experience at Paradis. The Filet Mignon with Tempura Lobster tail was amazing again, we also tried the Elk Osso Buco which was just alright. Everything on the plate was good except the Elk meat which I found flavorless apart from the smoke. We did come up with an amazing dessert this time, we had the Blueberry-thyme Creme Brûlée with a scoop of there Meyer Lemon Sorbet- AMAZING! Our server Rodney was great along with the rest of the service staff. We always eat inside and make reservations at least 5 weeks prior.
2019 Visit: Since we have lived in the area for 5 years we have always gone to Cafe 30A when needing a 'fine' dining fix. Last night we decided to head down to Rosemary Beach and try Paradis for our anniversary. Why have we waited so long??? When i made the res. I let them know it was our anniversary and the very nice reservation taker said that they would give us their nicest table. This turned out to be a wonderful high back white leather love seat which overlooked the dining room and out the from windows. Our reservation was for 5:00 PM since we like to eat early and since schools back in session parking was not bad. Our server was Brittany(Bethany?) and she was super good. The other staff were all pleasant and professional. Appetizer: Foie Gras Duo....... omg.... we could have eaten 5 of these (each!). Can not describe how delectable this was and can't wait for an excuse to have it again. Soooooooooooooooo good! We'd take a bite and just, well, sort of groan with delight. Here's the dish description. "Black truffle foie gras pate, pistachio brittle, seared foie gras, toast point, blackberry maple reduction." Entree 1: Lobster Encrusted Grouper (Added the Chef recommended Crab Meat on top and Grilled Shrimp on the side). This was almost indescribable. The textures and flavors worked together great. dish description: "toasted orzo, shaved brussel sprouts, spinach, hearts of palm, red onion, coconut passion fruit and pineapple beurre blanc." Next time I order it I will ask for a bit more of the pineapple beurre blanc. It was So Good and it elevated each bite. Entree 2: Cast Iron Filet. Description: "seared & served with Yukon gold mash, broccolini, black truffle demi ".Drop-Dead Delish! I have never had a filet truly melt in your mouth tender. It had to have been 12+ oz and the black truffle demi-glace was amazing. Dessert: Flourless Chocolate Torte (See photo). The PERFECT finish for this seriously perfect dinner! Smooth firm texture, crunchy chocolate crust, raspberry sauce, house whipped cream and lemon sorbet. Seriously OMG. We found the prices to be GREAT in light of the high quality. The reviewers who complain about their prices being high 1: Don't know what they are talking about, 2: Haven't eaten out enough, 3: Have yet to understand and appreciate good cuisine, 4: Will be more at home at any of the many fine eating establishments on Hwy 98. We will be back soon and can't wait to try their...
Read moreI will never recommend Restaurant Paradis to anyone after the humiliating experience I had last weekend. My sister-in-law and I went to the restroom quickly after we ordered our meal and we were verbally attacked and harassed by a very angry woman, while using the restroom. I had not even finished using the restroom when this woman continued to bang on the door after I politely told her “one moment please!” (Keep in mind, we had just gotten in there maybe a min prior to the banging starting on the door) After the 3rd angry knock by the customer, she had the hostess knock on the door. My sister-in-law who was finished using the restroom and was just waiting on me, opened the door and said “is there a problem? We are just using the restroom quickly, one moment please!” and closed the door. We finished up and opened the door to the miserable customer and hostess who began insultingly questioning us in a threatening, discriminatory manner - asking what we were doing in there, how many drinks we had had, what our ages and careers were, where we were from…. It was crazy! I have never in my life felt more violated, especially at a “fine dinning” establishment like this. The hostess rudely ordered us back to our table, which was outside, before she called the manager over. I asked to speak with her as I was feeling completely embarrassed, violated and attacked by the hostess and customer - who made sure to tell us that she was a doctor at John’s Hopkins and was a regular/local? Anyway, the manager didn’t even give us a chance to explain our side of the situation, she just kept telling us and clapping her hands in our faces to get back to our seats or she was calling the police… we had done NOTHING to make her call the police…. If anything, the customer should have had the police called on her for harassing us in the bathroom. As the angry customer sat the bar laughing at us, my sister-in-law and I went back to our seats and before we knew it the officers showed up and stood behind our table watching us. This was absolutely crazy and embarrassing… we weren’t even able to eat our $700 dinner without being watched by the officers.
If you don’t like the feeling of being discriminated against, violated, harassed and embarrassed in front of an entire restaurant for no reason, I would not recommend Restaurant Paradis in...
Read moreSummary: Coming from Miramar beach, were really excited to try this place out, but most likely won't return due to the lackluster flavors.
The ambience and décor felt like they were trying too hard to be upscale and it came off (to me) as pretty cheesy. For example, there's some bizarrely tall 'booth' furniture in the middle of the dining room, and a really nice pleather chair located in the (single occupancy) women's restroom - I guess in case you can't wait to continue a chat with your friend while you recycle some cocktails?
Our waiter had zero personality and wasn't very helpful in picking out dishes/cocktails.
The cocktails were pretty tasty, and we were pleased with the wine selection. The beer selection was just okay.
The main issue was with the food - none of it would bring us back:
Apps:
We tried the beef and blue cheese tortellini, pork belly, and soft shell crab special.
I personally don't understand why people rave about the tortellinis in the other reviews. They were okay, but again, nothing special or crave-able.
Actually I kinda feel this way about all of the food here. It sounds really good on paper but ends up being really disappointing in person.
Mains:
The cast iron filet seemed ... overly charred. It was cooked nicely (rare) in the middle but tasted bitter from the char on the outside.
Our dinner mate ordered the same thing cooked medium, but received the same doneness as our rare steak. They seem to have issues cooking food to the requested temp.
I don't know where the lobster was in the so-called "lobster encrusted grouper"... it just seemed like it was coated with normal breadcrumbs. Both my husband and I liked the veggies under the grouper better than the fish itself. It wasn't inedible by any means, just not worth the...
