Cowgirl Kitchen — Restaurant in Alys Beach

We’ve eaten at Rosemary location several times this week - hoping for the same experience we had over the years previously.

Monday Breakfast was okay at best. Server was good - food was ok.

Tuesday we sent our boys (11,13 and 23) to get take out while we were out with some friends for dinner. Our boys picked up to go orders, which include 20% gratuity - which I’m okay with. However, when our boys sat down to eat at an outside table - they were bluntly told to leave by the hostess. I Understand they placed to go orders - but a little tact would have been appreciated and more politely explaining to them that they couldn’t sit there - even though they paid a full gratuity to pick it up themselves.

Finally this evening - my wife and I decided to grab to go orders and eat in our condo. When i called in the order, they told me they would include 20-% gratuity (again, no problem) and would call me when the food was ready. I happened to grab some items at CK supply in the meantime and walked over without receiving a call. The hostess (same one according to our boys) charged my card (with gratuity for “service”) and hands me a cold bag of food. I’d never received a phone call - and she acted as if I was a bother for walking up without receiving a call.

We were disappointed in our visit here. The portions were small, the service was slow. It was not a busy day. We live locally and weren't there during a peak tourist season or busy time. There were empty tables but our server was VERY slow to respond to anything we asked. We had to ask multiple times for things like napkins, a little more dressing, a to go box, and even had to get up and physically go find her to ask for our bill. It's not a big place, and we felt unimportant. The food we got tasted fine, but the shrimp tacos were comically small. For the price, you'd expect a little more food. There were 2 tiny little tacos that were a couple bites. Pictures are included for reference. The fish tacos were similar in size. My husband asked for a little extra dressing that came with the fish tacos and we had to ask 3 times before finally getting it, then were charged $3 on the bill for a tiny side- of a little more of the same dressing that came with the entree. This was frustrating, but after waiting 15-20 minutes to even get our bill, it wasn't worth complaining about. Our group had 4 different entrees, plus drinks and appetizers so we sampled a variety of the menu. With all the cute places in Rosemary, we definitely wouldn't recommend or return...

It was the 4th of July so I’m going to give an extra star. Expecting a two hour wait, I went to check in our party of 8. We were quoted an hour. That’s about when they got us seated. It was two tables of 4 and we were okay with that. We waited 20 minutes for someone to take our order. It was awkwardly long enough that I went back to the hostess to ask if we put in our order with her. Nope. We were seated outside. So there must be more tables inside holding things up? Nope. Maybe four. Another six or so outside. My sister in law is an accountant for a chain restaurant and worked her way through college in the food industry, as did I and many of you. So we have a great deal of understanding. That was exhausted during this visit. Finally, I ordered a fish sandwich which was dry. I’ve cooked better at home when thawing in the microwave and rushing it in a skillet. Same for the fish tacos another person in my party had. My father in law says the pizza is three stars. Which means 2. It’s likely that the employees are under paid and under appreciated. There didn’t seem to be any sense of urgency amongst the staff. I’ll never go back. I felt sorry for the people checking in after me. I wanted to warn them. Go somewhere else. It will be...
