Hibby and I dont get the opportunity to just explore and try new places very often. It was a fabulously beautiful day and we were on the way back from Panama City. We wanted to stop for lunch at somewhere we had never been. Good food, fun place... lots of options. We stumbled across The Perfect Pig and thought we had found the perfect lunch place. It's really cute. Kind of trendy cottage chic decor. Staff are smiling friendly people. Menu is not huge but it all sounded good. That's kind of where the fun ended. Hubby was very excited about an aged 52 day smoked brisket sandwich. I opted for the pulled pork sandwich. One of their specialties is Drunken Goat Potato Chips, so we decided we had to give those a try. They weren't bad, but they were just plain homemade chips. No special seasoning or dip. Just salted chips. I dont recall the price but they must have been expensive. Our sandwiches were $14 each (insane for a standard size barbq sandwich!), 2 glasses of water and 1 order of chips = a $40 lunch. Yowza! With your $14 sandwich you get a choice of 1 pickle spear OR 1/3 cup of potato salad. I seriously couldn't believe a pickle spear is considered a side. The potato salad is a loaded baked potato salad made with sour cream. It's very rich! 2 bites was all I could handle. Hubby got the pickle, but tried my salad and thought the same thing. First time eating here. Service was wonderful! Food was very tasty! But it took 55 minutes to get it:( We were the third table sat on a very slow Monday. We didn't say anything because we're in the business and know things go wrong all the time. We patiently waited. I ordered the Cuban sandwich which was tasty except the pork had a BBQ flavor to it. Clearly they use same pork for pulled pork sandwich. It's okay though. It was tasty. Blue cheese cole slaw was tasty as was the potato salad. My friend ordered what she thought was a fried green tomato sandwich but came out as a salad. The menu just says "stack". Very misleading. She said it was delicious. Other friend ordered a cup of gumbo as an appetizer and it was served with her entree. Her meal was good too. No complaints really about the food or service. The wait time was crazy being that slow! Also, went to use the restroom and as I was sitting on the throne I happened to look up and notice that a ceiling tile had been removed! Definitely creepy if you're a woman!!!!! First thing you think of is a dang camera watching you do your thing! Errr! Would I give them another try, maybe. Maybe the wait was because they ran out if an item that we ordered and they had to prepare it " on the fly "??? Honesty is the best policy when this kind of thing happens.
