I'm writing this review to share an experience I had at this McDonald's location. As a pedestrian, I often find myself hungry late at night after walking. I understand that lobbies have to close, but most places in town close their lobbies around 10 PM. I was surprised to find that the lobby at this location closes at 9 PM. When I arrived at 9:50 PM, the lobby was closed. Since I don't have a car, I can't use the drive-thru. I'm also aware that it's against the rules for pedestrians to walk through the drive-thru, even though I just wanted to buy my food. I saw a customer in a car and, after waiting for them to finish their order, I politely approached their window. I explained my situation and asked if I could pay them cash to add a McChicken and fries to their order. I only spoke to this one person and didn't bother anyone else. They were kind enough to agree to help me. However, while I was waiting for the customer, a young employee, who looked like a teenager, came out. He was told to talk to me about "scaring customers." This was really hurtful and completely untrue. I was simply standing near one car, waiting for the person who had agreed to help me. I wasn't asking for free food; I was trying to find a solution to get food and was fully willing to pay for it. Instead of trying to understand the situation, it felt like the staff just assumed I was panhandling from what they saw on their security camera. It's not fair to make assumptions about people, especially when someone is just trying to find a way to get a meal. Despite this, the young employee who was sent out to talk to me was incredibly understanding. He deserved a lot of credit for how he handled a frustrating situation. He stayed calm and listened to me, and he handled the situation much better than a manager might have. His manager should give him a raise and a promotion. I have been a paying customer at this McDonald's many times before. This was the first time I was treated this way, and it was deeply disappointing. I hope this feedback encourages this location to consider different perspectives and not jump to conclusions about people who are just trying to get a meal. I understand the back lash I'll get for this review, I don't care. If you never owned a car and had to walk everywhere you wouldn't understand. Especially when you are walking home late at night after work. When every restraint you can afford lobby...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreA sign on the interior menu board offered a Quater Pound meal for $7.99 (I have a picture) - our meals rang up $9.09. When I questioned this and asked for a manager ā she stated that her manager was not in the building and she was the MOD. So, the MOD (who took our order) stated that she would have to take it up with her manager. The MOD also stated that they were out of diet coke, so we settled for un-sweat tea. After finishing our meal, we tried the Diet Coke at the self-serve, and yes, Diet Coke was available. When the MOD brought our food, she stated the she upgraded our fries - great - NOT - she just cleaned out the old fries (soggy and limp). Her manager (Maria) eventually came in from the exterior, during our meal, and could not / would not fix the issue. She offered to comp another meal on our next meal. I asked her to put it in writing and she refused - she stated that I should just ask for her on our next visit. Is she there 24/7? I then asked her to contact her boss (Margot) and she stated that I would have to return the next day at 8:00AM. This will be my last visit to a McDonalds in Amarillo - I believe that they are all owned by the same...
