I wanted to share some feedback regarding my recent dining experience on Tuesday, August 5th at 8:00 PM (Check #184), with a party of four. I don’t normally share feedback like this, especially since I’ve genuinely enjoyed Sol Agave in the past, but I was disappointed during this visit—particularly because I had brought friends who were experiencing the restaurant for the first time.

The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was enjoyable, and the appetizers were excellent. The food itself tasted fine, but by the time all the entrées finally arrived, most of them had gone cold. The final entrée, which came out about 25 minutes after the others, was cold upon arrival—leading me to believe it may have been prepared earlier and simply forgotten. Additionally, the tres leches cake we ordered arrived in a smooshed and unpresentable state, which was a major let down.

Service unfortunately missed the mark. Our server only checked in on us three times from arrival to paying the check, once to get drink orders, once to take our order, and once to bring our disappointing Tres Leches cake and the check. Drinks and tortillas were forgotten, and water glasses were never refilled despite being requested. Two entrées came out at the same time as our appetizer, one came after we had finished the appetizers, and the last arrived significantly later. However, I want to acknowledge that other members of the staff were incredibly helpful and attentive when we reached out to them directly by flagging them down or leaving our booth to talk to one nearby.

The restaurant was not particularly busy at the time, which made the service issues more noticeable. I didn’t catch the name of our server, but I hope this can be looked into using the check number provided. I still left a 20% tip, as the server seemed visibly overwhelmed and I understand how servers make their income as I was a server myself, but given the circumstances, it may be worth evaluating whether she’s receiving the proper training, support, or might not be in the best position for success.

Thank you for your time and attention to this feedback. I genuinely appreciate the experience and ambiance, and I hope this helps improve the guest experience moving forward by changes being made. Needless to say, I won't be bringing friends to or recommending this...

A+ Service: This was our first time eating at Sol Agave. My party of 10, ages 55-75, ate a Friday night dinner. The greeters were so very kind and accommodating to make sure we got a table as quickly as possible. The servers were very attentive and nice, for instance, one of us needed a straight-backed wooden chair and the server was quick to provide it.

Food: The presentation was pleasant to look at but that could not make up for the unpleasant flavor of our meals. The food was not what we expected from a Mexican restaurant. We felt like we were in a fusion restaurant. But fused with what, was the question. We all had the same complaints about each of our dishes concerning the unique and odd taste of the sauces and the food. We could not put our finger on which specific herb or herbs were bringing out the disagreeable flavors. Most of us did not finish our meals due to the flavors. Which was disheartening considering the prices of each plate, which were much higher than any other Mexican restaurant we usually eat at.

Atmosphere: The Decore was beautiful, and the restrooms were very clean. However, the chairs were very uncomfortable to those of us with bad backs or had had back surgery. It was impossible to get any lower-back support. I had to fold my coat into a pillow and place it in my lower back to be able sit straight up without severe pain. Another member of our party who has had major back fusion surgery had to ask for a wooden chair to be able to eat at the table. The server quickly provided one as mentioned above.

The restaurant was full, for which we were happy because we want every business to succeed.

However, the background noise from the loud music and everyone talking more loudly in order to hear one another, made it nearly impossible to carry on conversations with those at our table as well as not being able to hear the servers. I would recommend that lowering the music volume would enable the patrons to talk with quieter voices.

I realize that there is a place for Sol Agave's style and food. But none of us will...

I did not have a great experience here. When we arrived we were sat pretty quick, which was nice but we didn’t see our server for about 10 minutes. Eventually he came over and brought us waters and asked if we had been to sol agave before, we said no and he said “oh okay, well I’ll give you a minute to look at the menu”. another 10-20 minutes later he came back and asked if we wanted any drinks other then water we did… long story short, we were there for an hour before any of us had gotten food (appetizers) it was another 30-40 minutes until we got our actual food. This is what upset me most, I had asked if they had a simple plain cheese quesadilla, I know it’s simple but I personally didn’t see anything on the menu that looked or sounded good. Anyways I got my food and when I took my first bite it was disgusting, I genuinely spit it out to look at what was wrong. Again I asked for a cheese quesadilla, and he said they had something similar… I didn’t know what that meant at the time but what it meant was that the put zucchini and squash inside of the quesadilla, personally I’ve never seen this before and had I of been given details on what the “similarities/ differences” were between a normal cheese quesadilla and their quesadilla I would have asked to modify it to how I like it. But I didn’t say anything out of respect. Little did I know my total bill for 2 people came out to $120 I was shocked to find out that the quesadilla that I did not take more then one bite out of was $33 my wife’s food was also around $33 our drinks were about $11 each and an appetizer was anywhere from $15-$18. I was fuming at this point, our server was great and super nice to everyone at our table so we still left a good tip, but I will never be returning here again. BUYERS BEWARE! If you’re not into super gourmet Spanish food do not eat here the price is not worth it to test and see if you like it. Also plan on sitting around for 2ish hours here just in case you have plans this is very much a sit down and stay a...

I think this might be the most recommended spot in all of Utah County… 👋 Meet @Sol Agave American Fork 📍 749 W 100 N Unit CRA8 American Fork, UT 84003 This elevated mexican spot has taken Utah by a storm & has definitely become a cult-classic! With its fun atmosphere, unique cocktails (+ mocktails) & amazing food it is a staple for anyone who loves Mexican food. They have a decently sized menu with options ranging from the classic taco to unique takes like lamb chops with chorizo mashed potatoes. They truly have an option for anyone & everyone to enjoy. They also have some of the best cocktails + mocktails in Utah County with many made table-side for an added experience! We love the smoked old fashioned and the margarita flight (you can get it with or without alcohol) but the new mocktails made with Redbull are a total win too! Of course, everyone comes here for the butter cake (& don’t get me wrong - it’s always going to be #1) but the Tres Leches is also a fantastic option especially as it’s a bit lighter! We noticed SO many different birthday celebrations happening during our dinner & thought it was so fun they served your dessert with a sparkling candle. The restaurant is especially beautiful & romantic at night (the patio is adorable too) with the moody dim lighting! I always recommend making a reservation because it can get BUSY - even during the week days. Definitely is a spot you need to add to your list & GO! 🫶 Thank you Sol Agave for sponsoring this video & hosting is for such a phenomenal meal! Happy Eating!

We ordered the Sugar Cane Filet, Enchiladas de Langosta (lobster enchiladas), Mar y Tierra, Tacos de Hongo, Tacos del Mar, and yes, the highly touted Butter Cake (and got a birthday tres leches). The butter cake truly is a must order. It should be shared between 2, and it's in a class of its own. Honestly, I'd come here just for the cake. I went for my birthday and received a piece of tres leches, which was really good... until I tried the butter cake. The lobster enchiladas are good and loaded with lobster, but I would order something different if I returned. It became a bit much by the end. The Mar y Tierra has a uniquely sweet taste. I'd take a pass on the special lemonades; they present well but it's syrup with a bunch of fruit dumped in and no refills (Red Robin does it better). The sugar cane filets are really good with some unique and memorable flavors, and I'd order it again. My friend said he loved the tacos de hongo and would order again next time (after having it his last visit as well). The complimentary chips and salsas are amazing! I would've been satisfied if that was our only starter. The service was excelente. Diego took great care of us and provided helpful recommendations for food. The restaurant has a good atmosphere, made for social gatherings and community, but definitely not privacy or an intimate evening. I highly suggest making a reservation as opposed to walking in, because we still waited 15 minutes to be seated with the reservation. The ultimate question: "Does the satisfaction of the experience justify the cost?" For me, it's a no. But I'm not seeking high-end Mexican or Tex-Mex. There's a level of pretention necessary to buy into the whole experience that I can only achieve at a steakhouse or nice Italian restaurant. But for those looking for an upscale Mexican restaurant, this place is for you.

Sol agave has been recommended to me for a while now and I finally went. It was amazing! And I do not say that lightly. I had the chicken enchiladas (they were out of lobster enchiladas which is highly recommended) and it was delicious. They went above and beyond with the cheese and toppings and all of it combined together so well. For dessert we had some sort of cake - honestly we just ordered it because we saw the table next to us get it. It had a brown butter and butter cake with ice cream and it was cooked perfectly. OH and the guacamole. Some of the best guacamole I’ve had a restaurant. It was well flavored but still light and excellently blended/whipped. I don’t know how they did it but I loved it. And of course the service was excellent. I did make a reservation so that helped to not wait. Updated 9/9 - I’ve been here on a few other occasions and it always hits the spot. The food is high quality and the ambiance is great. The service at the new location isn’t as good as the original location. Not sure why this is because I assumed the staff would stay the same but it wasn’t as good this last time. The food however tasted just as good. I’ve tried the taquitos al gusto with Chile verde and loved it. I also sampled the mar y tierra and I was blown away at the tenderness of the filet mignon and the wine reduction flavor. The pork belly bites are also delicious. When I tried the lobster enchiladas I wasn’t impressed. I actually enjoyed the chicken enchiladas quite a bit more so I’d opt for them instead, and they are cheaper. The butter cake is also amazing and always hits the spot. It’s crunchy/firm on the outside and soft on the inside. I could eat it everyday and never tire of it. Plus the chocolate abuelita moose served with it is delicate and delicious. And it’s haagen Daaz ice cream so a premium touch there.
