I live in San Diego, so one of my goals for my most recent visit to see family in Ames was to try Clayton Farms Salads. It did not disappoint.
I love that when you drive up, you can see all the greens growing inside. We placed our order, then had a quick chat with the friendly young man at the window. But there wasn't much time for conversation because as promised, we got the world's freshest salads. It was so quick.
We got home an opened up our salads and they looked amazing. My husband got the southwest salad and I got the Caesar salad. They were both delicious. Everything was incredibly fresh and so tasty. We really liked the Salad Girl dressings as well. I'm super picky about salads, and if it's not fresh, then I'm not interested. This was easily the best salad I've ever had.
My Mother has been having their lettuce delivered practically since the beginning and I am always impressed with the freshness and flavor. Unfortunately, their facilities tours were not available during our visit, but I'd love to take the tour sometime.
I will be insisting on visiting Clayton Farms Salads every time...
Read moreThis is a gem to have in Ames! The first time I got the crunchy Asian salad and the next visit(s) I ordered the southwest. Both were delicious but the southwest is my favorite so far, the dressing is so good!! The portion of lettuce is slightly more than what I would consider an even mix with the other toppings. The pricing to me is fair, even with other comments about getting more value next door at BBops. When I eat at places that value fresh ingredients, I’m not doing it for the quantity of food, I’m doing if for the quality and benefit to my body. My only complaint is the discrepancies with the different totals I received when I ordered the southwest salad. Today the total was $13.91 and a few days ago the total was $12.84. I got the same order each time, with chicken added. The receipt says “customer appreciation” with a discount of $2.50. If this is only on certain days, it should be made apparent because I don’t know why totals would be that different a few days apart. Other than that, it is super yummy, fast, FRESH and great whole food ingredient option to have...
Read moreTerrible! I drove through to get an Cobb salad. The salad looked great! I was the only one in the drive. Unfortunately, the ranch dressing I got was separated and all in clumps. I went through the drive through window again and asked for another salad without the dressing. This salad was easily 1/2 the size of the first one. So I asked for my money back. After 3 different workers, I finally got my money back. The manager did not try to say they were sorry or apologize. He did say he would check into the dressing freshness and the proportions of the salad. I said it was easy to see the difference setting them side by side. Very disappointing and I will not be back, which I am sure is fine with them as they probably weren’t expecting someone that expected a fresh, wholesome and...
