July 11, 2025 my friends for from Kuwait came to visit me in California. We had a long drive from airport and decided to go eat At Chinese restaurant.18 Folds, The advertise on the Facebook or Instagram and we decided to come and see how beautiful and how delicious food is. 1 1/2 hour waiting time, They brought rice with the pork which we did not order it, but they decided they can give us leftovers because we were waiting for so long. As I mentioned to them that my guest came from Kuwait, they don’t eat pork. These people doesn’t care where you came from they just give it to you to apologize. Then be waiting for 40 more minutes for the rice and just was cooked with a a row Egg, Which no one added this kind of dish, then they brought overcooked chicken. I ordered sushi and my friend ordered sushi. Gentlemen brought sushi to my friend and she asked him is it the dragon sushi he said yes she start to eat and he came and he said no sorry that’s not yours. That’s your friend sushi🤣. Then after he brought sushi for her, and of course the taste was horrible. Manager offer to pay the whole dinner bill and I was shocked how horrible service is. She apologize they did not have enough chefs. It’s only two people, but the restaurant was completely full.. additional that they refuse to set us outside they said it’s reserved but the old tables were empty. People never came to the table we requested additional to they put us at the bar and as you can see, it’s agreed between kitchen and the bar and it’s completely dirty with the fat and dust on it...
Read moreQuick Summary Pretty solid Asian food options, but would steer away from the Dim Sum options. The chicken bao and garlic noodles were my favorites and I recommend ordering it. Good service and ambiance; great for groups and families because of the hill area and decor outside. Parking is limited (can park in the structures near Anaheim Packing district or use valet)
Food- 4 stars The chicken bao was the best dish we tried. Chicken was incredibly juicy and tender. Great flavors overall and really enjoyed the pickles.
The garlic noodles were shrimp were very good as well. Perfectly cooked and highly recommend ordering it
Green beans- these were good. About Din Tai Fung level with a little spice
Pork fried rice- this was pretty good as well
Spicy and sweet dumplings- these were good. Slightly below Din Tai Fung level
Dim Sum sample platter- I would steer away from this unless you are only here for visual representation. The cream cheese dumplings were the best part of the plater. Similar to other reviews, the soup dumplings were mediocre (little to no soup) and the shiu mai wasn't as moist and flavorful as other competitors. Everything else on the platter was forgettable
Service- 4 stars Our server was great, but they only had 2 servers on a Sunday for lunch. They were pretty understaffed on the wait staff. But food came out at a good pace
Bottom Line I would come back for the Chicken bao, ambiance and decor. I would avoid the Dim Sum options if I...
Read moreToday my hubby and I had cravings for dim sums. I heard that this is a wow dim sums place. Reviews, as you can see from here, good. And so I guess nothing to lose to try it.
And you know what, this restaurant is a JOKE!
I am happy that we just ordered two dim sums.
Shanghai soup dumplings. I have been to shanghai twice. Are you sure this is Shanghai style? What’s critical for good soup pork dumplings? The skin and the soup. The skin - absolutely dry and hard. You can see it from the cap of the dumplings Soup - there’s hardly any soup.
Even Costco’s pork dumplings are way better!
Shrimp dumplings. They looked good! Taste-wise? I am not sure if I can taste anything. Again Costco’s shrimp dumplings are way better! Sigh...
We ordered hot jasmine tea. I have never tasted such a weak flavour of tea. And the spicy sauce... oh no... I have no idea how they can make spicy oil spicy-less!
All in all, bland. If this is the first dim sum experience for you here, please go try somewhere else.
When the server asked us how the food was. We were nice to say so-so. We told him that the skin of the pork dumplings was too dry and thick. And you know what he said? “Oh I am sorry. We are still figuring out how to make softer skin and how long we should steam them.”
Okay... thank you for telling me....
