The food is above most places like this. Prices have gone up from the days before the fire that closed Angelos for years. Back then (before Covid killed it) I had a solid job and visited Angelo's frequently. I recall back then they had classic car shows in the parking lot at times. You could eat and enjoy the beautiful, classic, cars. Prices for a burger combo were, if I recall about $7.00. Now, because of the spiralling prices everywhere it is closer to $11.00. However, it is still a good deal. Also, when Angelo's re-opened they got a whole spiffy, new look. An addition to the normal Burger Combo (which is what I always got) is you get a ton more fries then you used to. It is a nice surprise. Come hungry! The combo comes with a medium drink which is closer to small, but that is not a big deal because you can get re-fills. If one has seen my previous posts, one might be aware that I rarely drink soda and prefer unsweetened iced tea. Angelos (unlike many establishments recently) has unsweetened ice tea as a choice in it's dispensers. This may seem like a little thing to most, but to me, it's the little things that bring the stars. They even have lemon for your iced tea as an option! The hamburger itself is good. Not very unique, tastes much like most burgers in places like these. Good, solid, comfort food. The staff was professional, courteous and kind. The place is kept nice and clean. There is, of course a menu that includes all kinds of entrees, like Breaded Chicken, etc... but I go to Angelos, specifically for their burger combo and a nice, clean, place to relax. Music wise, as I often do, being a DJ, I listen to the background music. Here it leans on a more contemporary mix. With a few throwbacks thrown in. Some of it sappy and some of it good, like Ah-Ha's Take On Me, a guilty favorite of mine which made me hum along. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience. I DID come hungry. (had not eaten anything all day since 8:00am) It was nice just taking a breather and enjoying some decently prepared...
Read moreOh how I missed Angelo's. It was our go to breakfast place on the weekends. When the kitchen caught fire and closed the restaurant down for years it was a lose for sure. Once I saw it was reopened I was excited to see what changed and what stayed the same. Here is what I found...
The food was plentiful before and it sure is now! Check out the order of chicken strips I ordered for my little one. There were a bunch and I didn't order the combo that came with fries but they gave them to me anyway!
Everything still taste amazing and is made fresh but much faster than large chain restaurants. They also make sure you have plenty of condiments and napkins and straws without even having to ask. Oh and if you request something special like for me "no onions", they make sure it's made perfectly and unlike other places actually label your food as such.
The renovations are nice and make the restaurant more spacious and up to date.
The service is still personal and feels like everyone is a regular, which these days to me is rare.
My only complaints are that there are no longer those wonderful specials they used to have like the pancake breakfast for like $5.99. Also the prices are higher (as sadly expected) but still you get a lot of food for those prices.
Overall I am happy that Angelo's is back and I will once again be a regular customer.
Another plus is that they offer a family burger 4 pack for about $30 (pictured below). The burgers were perfectly seasoned and the fries abundant! We took ours to go so the drinks seemed small but if we ate there we would have had refills so that's on us...
Read moreHonest review. Some of the good is good and some isn't. The tuna sandwich they always put the wrong bread after I ask for another type. My main reason for this review is the Angelo's famous chicken salad. Let's face it, the chicken salad from the Angelo's on New Hope and Westminster has the greatest chicken salad known to orange county. I live next to this Angelo's and make the commute to the other one because of the chicken salad
I understand this one is trying to go for looks, but the chicken is dry and pre-cooked while kept warm. The cheese is some stringy flavorless little strands of disappointment, while the bacon bits are cold.
If you guys make it exactly like the other Angelo's I'm sure it will become a more desirable item ordered.
Let's face it they grill the chicken on the spot while cutting it. Not a thin chicken break, actual chicken chunks with cheese that melts over it and hot bacon bits.
This restaurant is known for it's good food and great amounts, let's not cheap out on the salad and make it like NewHope and Westminster after all it's...
