I'm not the most critical person when it comes to American BBQ, only because I didn't grow up eating it often. So when it comes to the sauce, I never really know what I'm looking for. But my family came here for my dad's birthday and it was great!

LOCATION - located in a business center, there's the restaurant, and there are their corporate offices. You'll easily be able to spot out the restaurant part. They do have an open patio that does allow dogs. I was a little worried because it looked like it was part of the indoor portion, but I checked with the staff first and was able to bring in our pup. Parking in plentiful, so no worries there.

SERVICE - Really friendly and helpful people! Each single person. You order at the counter then they bring you your food to the table. We're a party of 6 so wanted to figure out how to get what we all wanted without an abundance of food, so the lady at the counter helped us so politely. Didn't make us feel bad at all for not really being 100% ready when we approached the counter. The guy who delivered our food was quirky and super nice!

AMBIANCE - Very casual feel. I feel as if when it gets busy, there is a wait, but we did an early dinner so we were good and there was a table for us 6, no problem.

FOOD - Everything was pretty good! Again, I'm no BBQ-snob. But we all really liked their BBQ sauce because it wasn't too vinegar-y and didn't punch you in the face. It was so good my dad ended up buying a bottle! Their mac n cheese was my favorite side dish and their brisket was delicious! The only thing I noticed was their baby back ribs and spare ribs wasn't as tender, so you do have to work for it. But other than that, great!

PRICE - Price point for this place was actually pretty decent. No complaints, especially in...

I'm a fan. Not the 'greatest' per say but still some really kind grinds. I went with a friend and she recommended that I try the "Beef Brisket Sandwich" (sliced brisket, BBQ sauce, red onion and a sliced pickle on a French roll). @ $7.80 Instead I decided to order the "Pork Loin Sandwich" (sliced pork, BBQ sauce, onion, a sliced pickle on a French roll).@ $7.80 We split the Blake's Rings and French Fries combo: @ $5

So the experience we had was that this place was pretty crowded. There was this guy sporting the coolest handlebar mustache; which I haven't seen in a long time. He took our order. We sat outside and our order came out rather quickly. The food runner was way nice and friendly. While we were approximately half way through our meal another food runner going table to table asking about our experience. Environment wise: Pretty cool: Plenty of seating inside and on the patio. TV's were set to sports channels and staff was super friendly. Food wise: The "Pork Loin Sandwich" was way to dry and I had to add BBQ sauce to help try and wet it up. Might've came in to order this on the wrong day. Thank goodness I gave half of my sandwich to my friend and she gave me half of hers. Her sandwich was GREAT! I should've listened to her : / The Onion Rings and French Fries were good. The Onions rings were better since the fries came out a bit on the dry side and had to try and salvage them by the savior known as "Ketchup"

So here it is in a nutshell: Try the "Beef...

So I Haven't been at Blakes in awhile. I decided to go in today. Once I received my food, I asked for a Hot Sauce I usually used to get. My Waiter brought it and I used it for my food. Half way through my meal, a customer came up to me, and asked if we were done using the sauce. I politely said no because I wasnt done using it and instead offered for him to take some on his plate. He said no, I could take some on my plate and he would take the bottle. I said no, Im still using the sauce I originally asked for. He walked away upset and sat on his table. A few minutes passed by and my waiter came by and asked if she could pore some into a mid size container. I said yes and she then headed to the customer that had asked me for the bottle of sauce. Another few minutes passed by and another waiter came by the name kathy. She said, "alot of customers are asking for this sauce, so i need to take it." I mentioned To her i was still using it. However, she took the bottle and walked away and gave the bottle to the other customer that had originally asked for it. I think Kathy could have handled this situation better and not show preferrence to other customers who are regulars. It was extremly rude. Due to this experience, i am rating...

Im pregnant and was craving some BBQ. This place popped up on google and I went for it because it has so many different options. I got the 2 meat plate for beef, brisket and barbecue chicken. My sides were mac & cheese and potato salad. I added a side of Cole slaw to see what it tastes like. We also got banana pudding didn’t get a picture. The service was good 😊 very nice. The place was clean we took our food to go. The potato salad, garlic bread, and coleslaw were delicious. The Mac and cheese really needed to be elevated. Some seasoning and some real cheese would take that Mac and cheese to the next level. You can tell It’s made of a pre made liquid can cheese. It is ok but not the best. The banana pudding was pretty good. It was very heavy on the pudding and lacked the banana and cookies. In the whole container it was about 4-5 bananas pieces and 4-5 cookies. Again adding more to it would really elevate the dish. As for the meat. The meat was A1. The smoke on the Chicken was perfect, super juicy and delicious. The brisket so soft and juicy as well. I absolutely loved the BBQ sauce. We loved it so much we went back the next day for more 😂.

(I can’t rate the service nor atmosphere because I wasn’t the one picking it up) When it comes to soul food the first thing you notice is the seasoning. You can smell it and you can most def taste it. Since our fav place in Huntington Beach closed down my sister recommended this spot. The reviews were fine but the only review that counted was my sisters. Ok I was excited to try but was a bit disappointed. The meat was fine. Had a slight smoky flavor not a problem but the meat lacked seasoning (for me) but still good. The bbq sauce wasn’t to my liking so I added some of what I had at home. The mac n cheese lacked the cheese and no seasoning so I had to really doctor it up. Baked beans not too sure what they were trying to do but I wasn’t fan at all (my hubby liked them) the potato salad was good (throw in some egg and it would have been perfect). I wanted it to be great but it just wasn’t. I’m all about trying again (which I will) and hopefully it will be better.
