Worst place I've ever been, the staff showed no patience or curiosity towards us especially one of the managers we encountered there named Alex. We were a group of 20 spit in two groups. The waiter was short with us and one person in my table got into a small convention with him. And we were also warned about visiting between tables. I believe those were the only things that we had done wrong. We had noticed the waiter taking to some one who looked like a manager as they were looking at our table then we stopped paying attention to them and carried on with the night. But we had noticed the manager on the phone and glancing at us and hovering around our table so we started to pay more attention to him. And out of nowhere he approached us and asked "Is there anything he can do, is there a problem because you guys are staring at me." We noticed his hostility and tied to ask how long the pizza takes. He responds with "I'm not sure, im not in charge of that area but it should be about 45 minutes. How long have you been waiting." We respond with 30 min and he responds with " you can go check." We were a little thrown off with his attuned toward us but we though the conversation was over with but he proceeds to ask us if there was a problem. Since he asked we informed him that we had found a hair in my drink and a hair is a woman's drink at our table. And he stops us in the middle of explaining the situation and asked where the hair was. This was 30 minutes prior and I had set the cup with beer off to the side and poured myself a beer from the pitcher we had. But I said I don't have the hair but continues to ask where is the hair repeatedly. Most of the people at the table tell him we don't have the hair. And I asked why do you need to see the hair and he responds with how do I know it was a hair and says "it could have been your hair, you have facial hair it would be yours, ill comp it for you just let me see the hair." And at this point everyone at the table is annoyed because of his aggressive behavior and the lack of ability to be a good host. At this point everyone at the table starts to speak up and the manager says he will take care of it and storms off. 5 minutes pass and we are greeted by another manager and a security guard. The inform us that we have to go. Everyone at out table is confused and asked him why and he responds with "the other manager has came to out table multiple time and I've heard one side of the story and nothing you say can change that." We didn't waste our breath trying to explain our situation because we didn't want to be there anymore if that was the way we were going to be treated. I could imagine this place being nice if it weren't for the customer service we had...
Read moreThe next stop on my pizza journey, Brewery X, was a hit. (Note: this review is mostly about the pizza, only a little about the brewery as a whole)
Food: The pizza was delicious. Usually I start from the foundation up, but this time I'll go the other way around. The cheese was better than average quality, and they topped the pizza with fresh, thinly grated parm...nice touch. The sauce may have been my favorite part of the pie, very very good sauce. Not super bright (doesn't need to be on any NY pie) but very flavorful. The dough was also very tasty, and the bake visually seemed nearly perfect, but it just lacked that little crisp I look for in NY pizza. Oddly, the undercarriage did have the firmness, just not the crisp (reheating later in the evening added the crisp, and it was great). Very happy to have made the trip over. The full pie was the cheese as it should be on a first visit, but we also got a pepperoni slice that was fantastic. I might even prefer it to the cheese. I look forward to trying others in the future.
Service: Admittedly, limited interaction. The cashier for the pizza truck was the normal type of friendly, the bartender who I got a beer from was basically your average brewery taproom bartender (cool beard though), every interaction was just regular. Maybe that's a bit of an A+...positive enough that you view it as a good experience, but not so memorable you need to spend time thinking about it.
Atmosphere: It wasn't even all that busy inside (compared to capacity) but the parking lot was absolutely full. I got lucky, but I could see parking being a notable issue if it's any kind of busy at all. The outdoor area was nice, seemed like plenty of seating though much of it was reserved for parties today, and three different food offerings. Good vibe outside also. The inside has a fair amount of seating as well and is where the bars are, the main room also having a couple of TVs for sports. Large, pretty clean, on point decoration and vibe wise, attached to the actual brewery---great atmosphere. My visit was entirely for the pizza, and while I will get more pizza when I come back, I also just want to come back and hang out with a couple of beers here. Very cool spot. Definitely will try to use Uber or something though.
Overall, the pizza was awesome, just a little outside my tier of favorite OC pizzas but probably the best in Anaheim, and I look forward to eating it again. The experience as a whole was great---cool spot, good vibes from staff and patrons, wide and tasty selection of beer, and delicious food options (saw a couple of people with burgers, those looked good too)....
Read moreClose your eyes...now think of a place where you can hang with friends/family (without a mask now! woohoo!), eat some food truck grinds, and drink up some beers or beverages (whatever is your pleasure) in a massive outdoor environment that is cool, fun, chill, and gives off the best vibes. Ok, open your eyes! Friends, I give you......Brewery X!
No, seriously, I equate it to a Disneyland experience as a child where you feel carefree and you don't really wanna leave. I kid you not, as a Hawaii girl visiting Cali, this was probably one of the most fun experiences I had all trip. It's almost like a backyard bbq feel at a friends' house, but you don't have to worry about cleaning up at all! The outdoor environment is filled with tables made from used pallets (isn't that great?!) and the grass is turf to really give you that outside feel even though you know you are smack dab in an industrial area.
There's a lot of parking in the front, but I'm thinking they might need more with the popularity of this spot. When we left there was a wait of literally 2+ hours! Crazy! The beers are so unique (super fun names!) and tasty my hubby gives it two thumbs up. (He liked it so much he's been looking for Brewery X at stores and restaurants when we are out and about - side note: they are at Trader Joes!!!) I am, personally, a huge fan of their hard seltzer line because they are soooo good! For someone that doesn't like the "alcohol" taste, you will not find that in their seltzers. Dangerous. Very dangerous!
Onto the food...yay for food trucks!! I believe they rotate in food trucks and both times I visited did not disappoint! Because we were with a big party, we were also able to try the Brewery X Eats stuff, too! We tried their pizza (highly recommend because it's perfect with beer! haha!), Slap & Pickle Burger, Patty Melt, and the ah-mazing Rodzilla Fries (yes please!).
What I also love about Brewery X is that it’s super kid-friendly! In our party, we had 2 infants and my son who is 6. We brought toys and snacks for the babies and the table we had was low enough for them to walk around. There’s a ton of space for the kids to roam as long as there’s a willing adult to chase them. (Not it! Haha!) My son was stoked to grind their pizza and he ordered TWO juice boxes. Who does he think he is?! lol
Last, but not least, do not forget to check out their merch. Simple yet stylish. Score yourself a shirt, for sure. Or a hat, or a towel. Yes, I am speaking from experience.
One last request to Brewery X...how about...
