J&Q Vietnamese Sandwich and Cafe — Restaurant in Anaheim

Update 02/2025 Not sure what happened to this place... used to be our favorite but now it's dirty and the food isn't what it used to be. Plenty of other places to get a quick Vietnamese food fix. Can't see coming back here again after being a regular for years. Sad to see the health violations that I witnessed and that they denied even though I was standing there in full view - they shouldn't eat/drink from utensils that they use to prep & serve (just running them under the faucet isn't hygienic)!! Almost $50 worth of food/drink just went into the trash. I already miss this place. :(

Update 7/30/22 Fresh shrimp spring rolls were loaded with shrimp and so crunchy & light - perfect on these hot days.

Tried the grilled beef bahn mi this time... by the time I got it home from OC to Inland Empire, the bread had turned soft BUT it did not affect it one bit! Perfect meat/veggie/bread ratio! Filling but not heavy!! The beef had like a lemongrass flavor to it - so good!!!

Ohh and I tried the avocado smoothe this time!!! Most places use powder or avo-flavor, it's difficult to find a place that uses REAL avo... they use real avo here!!!! Creamy, buttery & nutty at the same time, and just delicious and a generous size for the price!!!

Of course I had to take another baguette home for later! They have the best bread!!! Delicate and flavorful - I could just eat the loaf by itself!!!

On top of everything, the staff is incredibly friendly and patient even when it's BUSY in there. Other places are rude while just trying to shuffle you through the line; here, they're always so quick & efficient, all while being friendly!

Fried shrimp Bahn mi - so fresh, crunchy, and tasty! Perfect summer meal!! And big enough for 2!!

And the shaken beef was a GENEROUS portion with rice and salad! The leftovers tasted just as good reheated!

The baguette was PERFECT - even bought one on the side for later! Light, crispy, flaky, and almost tasted buttery!

Ohhh and the eggrolls - only took one for the road and after the first bite I regretted not getting more! There was some kind of meat in it... maybe chicken... but crispy & delicious - wasn't soggy or greasy.

It's very clean and follows COVID protocols. Staff was so friendly and patient - seeing as how it was my first time there. I'll definitely be back - especially since it's conveniently right...

If I'm hungry and in the area, J&Q is at the top of my list for some delicious Vietnamese food. I usually order takeout for lunch, but when I have the time, dining in is chill with clean tables.

My recent favorites include grilled pork, J&Q Special, and grilled beef bahn mi sandwiches. The bread tastes freshly baked, with fresh veggies and generous, flavorful meats. The pho and the beef stew are also delicious and filling if I'm craving something hearty and hot.

The staff have always been kind and hardworking when getting orders out. The dining area, with its spacious layout and plenty of tables, makes you feel comfortable and at ease.

Have been looking for a local Vietnamese place to replace another that has sadly closed during the pandemic of the last several years, and J&Q fits the bill. A mom & pop, have been a couple of times now, and will keep going - banh mi sandwiches are on point, bread is baked on site, and are bigger than most other places I’ve gotten sandwiches from. Tasty egg rolls and spring rolls (have had the grilled pork version and even ate it the next day… like cold pizza… still tasty) are also larger than normal, so you won’t likely go hungry after ordering from here.
