Discriminated and tossed out as if we were unworthy, non-paying patrons. That is exactly how Pali Wine treated my friends and I. I'm almost in utter shock; it's been 6 hours but I still cannot get over what an atrocious experience we had here. There is nothing your business can say to take back the way your hostess/ server made us feel. No apology or act of service can erase that type of callous treatment. I dismiss every argument of a "policy" you have in place as your business was completely empty when we arrived, and we were nothing but polite and professional far beyond the patience most would have. The woman at the front (blonde, curly haired Caucasian) representing this establishment tonight made an absolute mockery of how businesses that would like to stay running should treat clientele. Six of us (all well-dressed, colored - besides one- working professionals with more than enough money to keep your winery afloat) purchased Groupons for fun to try the winery out. The voucher was $52 per pair, so we purchased 3 in total. When we showed up, the woman began looking at each of us and then stated there was a policy in place of "one Groupon per group?" I'm sorry, but where on the purchasing Groupon does it explicitly say this? No where! When I questioned how this doesn't make sense, she began retracting, stumbling on her words, and tremoring. I asked, so if we walk out and each pair came back in separately and sat in different areas, then technically we would be able to use our voucher, according to what you're telling us... To which she looked completely dumbfounded. It was clear she had absolutely no idea what she was even saying! And there were no reservations that night because I saw two other couples who walked in and went straight to the bar to order without reservations. I manage a team of 25+ for a living and can read people very well, but she still refused to acknowledge verbally that her point was completely unfounded. She then stated that they've had experiences in the past where parties have purchased Groupons and it got out of hand... What exactly does that have to do with us? How is this professional at ALL? What kind of impression does this leave with strangers who have nothing to do with your previous negative experiences? Why should that impact my experience when I paid for your services? That is BLATANT DISCRIMINATION. You are placing your SELF before your customers and mark my words, with people like this running your business, you will fail. This back and forth with her went on for minutes, and by the end I was disgusted and exhausted. Who stands there and argues with patrons who are paying for you through a service the business themself paid to bring in clientele? Do I need to hire an attorney to read my Groupons before I purchase them? It simply says $52 a pair.. absolutely no where did it say we are not allowed to come together. How can you think groups of 4 or more would not purchase together? I was exhausted and did not want to be around her or the establishment any longer so we walked away after telling her we'd cancel our Groupons, to which she looked delighted to respond "alright," with no attempt to apologize or make amends. It's significant to note that we had to walk past 3 hours later and the only demographic inside were caucasian. I'm not one to make light of the race subject, but I'm keen to my environment and the realities of it, and this scenario was undeniable. I've never felt this discriminated against and I will let every one of my many friends and acquaintances know about this. I hope you learn from the absolute unprofessional, prejudice treatment you served me and my friends and attempt treat other humans with the respect and opportunities...
Read moreOne word summary: Inconsistent.
3.5-4 out of 5 stars for ambience. The ambience here is nice. The bar area, the few indoor tables, and the outdoor patio make this a nice place to hang out. Very low key with just one or two TVs and no music blasting. Good for hanging with friends and having a good conversation over wine.
3.5-4 out of 5 stars on food taste. This is where I have trouble. The food quality is inconsistent. Example in the photos: first time I had the sourdough bread, amazing. Second time I ordered it, different presentation which greatly changed the taste. Disappointing. Now it becomes a "eh why risk ordering a $13 item when I can get consistent servings across the street?"
I feel that the food varies depending upon who is in the kitchen that day. Also, food availability hours is also inconsistent. I've been here at 4 and have been told that the kitchen opens at 6. I've been here at 4 and have been able to order food. Also, the pours vary by bartender.
3.5-4 on service. It's not excellent. It's not great. It's just ok. I've sat at the bar and staff kind of chats amongst themselves. I'm not expecting immediate service but when I'm sitting there for 5 minutes with an empty glass, kind of not ok. Service is also very inconsistent.
One aside: it's odd to me that at a wine bar, staff is allowed to wear sweatpants. So, so odd to me.
I want to like this place as it's walking distance from where I live and the ambience is more appealing to me than Villains or Packing House. But, due to the inconsistency I've experienced, I'm always having to decide whether I want to open myself up for some level of disappointment or go somewhere else where I know...
Read moreThis is a very cute date spot. They have a patio with a romantic setting and the inside is very design forward. Service was great— and the food was superb! We didn’t get wine (big mistake) and we got a white sangria and the frozen wine Rita instead— I highly recommend you stick with wine!
We received the drinks before the food (obvs) and weren’t impressed at all with the drinks, the Rita was so so sour, almost un drinkable and the sangria felt heavy. We were nervous after that to receive the food but we were blown away by it! I’d recommend to the restaurant, stick to what you’re good at which is clearly the wine! No need for the other drinks as they brought the rest of the experience down.
There was also live music the night we went- which kinda drew us in as we love that while we eat. Well 15 min into us sitting down, the guy stopped for a break, which lasted pretty much the entirety of our dinner.. not only was he not playing, but the restaurant never turned on their house music. Big downfall. Music is an essential part of a dining experience. If the band/musician is going to stop, the house music should immediately be turned on.
If it weren’t for the drinks and the music, definitely would’ve...
