Ushering in the Fourth of July fireworks with some pizza pies
Awaiting lighting up fireworks to celebrate Independence Day, we needed some quick eats for a small cadre of kids. Pizza always seems like fare they don't complain about, so family made an order for some pies.
Works- Pepperoni, Canadian bacon, spicy Italian sausage, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, black olives. Being used to piling on the toppings at the Create A Pizza places, I was taken aback when I saw the Works pizza. I mean, I pile almost everything and the kitchen sink at Blaze, PizzaRev & the like. So, when I saw how meager the Works pizza from Papa John's was, I came back to commercial pizza reality. It was good, however I thought the pizza had stuffed crust. The crust was bulging, which logically I thought gooey cheese laid within. But alas, it was not to be.
Dual Layer pepperoni XL pizza- The Dual Layer was what I expected. A few more slices of salty pepperoni, and again with that crust that looks stuffed crust, but is not. It did the trick for the kiddos whom don't like vegetables, which I think was all of them.
Garlic parmesan breadsticks- The breadsticks were long & looked really good. I didn't have any, but the kids loved them.
Service was good. The wait time was about what was estimated. The employee offered plates w/o us asking. Parking is in a private lot.
I'm not a pizza guy. I only partake of it once in a great while. However, for get togethers, it's hard to beat pizza with how it's already individually portioned & an easy grab n' go meal. Next time we need to feed the team, Papa John's looks like a sure...
Read moreI love Papa John's but listen to my experience at this store! So I walk in to order at the store and the girl boss greets me with forced cursory acknowledgement. Someone else asks if I'm picking up.--- no I am not. Then girl boss takes my order, takes my cash and I'm on my way. I really enjoy watching my pie being made from start to finish. As I peruse I see the doughboy prepare my crust, and I notice like three small cuts on his left hand that are healing because I can see the scabs. No pizza place wears gloves to flip and press the dough. The young man, you could see was a dedicated worker and was good at what he does --- but he needed a different task than the one he was doing with healing sores on his hands. Then something happened that I have never experienced in my life! At Pizza Hut they open the box and show you your pizza, but at PJ's they never do, and I don't mind. But when I got in the car and was driving home, I popped open the box to grab a slice --- and lo and behold ---- for the first time in my near 60 years on this earth . . . the pizza wasn't even cut! How in the Bejesus does that happen! So I had to tear it to eat it! Won't go back to the Euclid and Katella store ever...
