Pho Vina — Restaurant in Anaheim

I have been going to Pho Vina often for years and today is the last time I will ever go there.

I went there today and sat down in the same table i sit everytime i go there. it was a table for 2 right next to a table for 4. The employee which i believe was the manager came over and asked if I was ordering take out or to stay of which I said to stay. He then asked if I would move to another table as he was wanting to keep that table open for a party of 6. Im nothing but flexible so I said sure and moved.

less than 5 minutes later another customer came in and sat in that same spot and ordered food and was ultimately served in the same seat as I was just moved from. I later asked the employee why he had me move only to seat another party of one there. he told me because he moved the table a few inches away from the table for 4. I responded that I would have done the same thing. eventually he stopped wanting to discuss my feelings about it and walked away.

Story is not over yet.....a short time later another party of 1 came and sat at the table for 4. needless to say i was quite put off by the whole thing now.

I would hate to believe that discrimination is alive in a business like this but the 2 party of 1's that I was replaced by were both Vietnamese and I'm not.

Food is food but service and attitude...

Been going here for years (since early 2000's), it used to be called Oodles of Noodles and then something else before that. It's actually gotten better over time, so that's a good thing. It's by far the best Pho joint in the area, with the added benefit of all of their dishes being simply amazing. One of the first Pho places I've been to that does take out right (separating it out perfectly for you to assemble at home). By far more convenient for me than driving to Westminster, and there's only a handful of places I'd consider better, as their broth and portions are the real deal.

The prices have slowly crept up over time as they realize they're the best in the area. The service is decent for a Pho place, they're extremely efficient, which is what I usually care about. They know me when I ask for a large number 22 for pickup (special combination pho). When I bring my kids and eat there, the kids love it, and they treat the kids extra special. I wish they did Bahn Mi too, then I wouldn't have to drive to OC Poultry and Rotisserie (I still probably would, their sandwiches are the bomb). It was clean and service was prompt. My Daughter liked what she had it was a chicken soup of some kind. I had a chicken salad. The presentation of the salad was excellent, the flavor of the chicken was good however it was dry. Seemed a little overcooked and dry. They brought water to the table but never asked if we wanted anything else to drink. The service wear was (forks, spoons) were not on the table but was placed in a container that held several forks & spoons. This seems odd and unsanitary. (I’ve never seen this before.)

We were there for lunch and there were not many in the restaurant on that Tuesday afternoon, yet we both felt as if the server was waiting for us to leave (kept his eyes on us) and the moment we got off he was very efficient to immediately clean off the table.
