If I could leave 0 stars I would. Last night was one of the worst experiences I've had coming here, and will never return here again. After driving 3 hours from Ventura (visiting family, I was born in OC), I had suggested to my friend's we stop at this establishment for a couple drinks and food. When seated, I asked the bartender "excuse me but when is the pool open?" our server who was very friendly replied by saying "our pool parties are Monday-Friday, but the pool is still open, we just don't have towels." I very much love the water(used to swim and play water polo in HS), but wanted to make sure I was being respectful. When our server returned I again asked, "so are you telling me the only reason no one is in the pool because there's no towels? because I don't need a towel" she laughed and said go ahead. So I proceeded to the pool where a couple of children were running around unattended. Again, I wanted to be respectful to the establishment, so I asked the bartender and staff if it was okay to get into the pool. After receiving 3/3 thumbs up, I jumped in the pool and swam a couple laps. After just having driven 3 hours, this was perfect, unfortunately the incapable of leadership manager , Zack approached me while I was exiting the pool and putting my clothes back on. Without question he angrily approached me and shouted "you're done, it's time to go!" Confused as to what I had done wrong I stood there while trying to get clothed. I replied, "my apologies, I just asked my server and the staff at the bar if it was okay and they said it was fine." To which he responded, " who'd you ask?? Well I'm the manager, and that's not allowed." Again, trying to be respectful I calmly stated that I asked my server and the bar staff if this was okay, to which they said go ahead, and gave me thumbs up. This was not good enough for Zach as he was obviously upset that his team doesn't respect him enough to run the establishment as intended. I get it, OC doesn't have the best view of Mexicans, but I was very respectful to the establishment. I paid my bill and had no ill intentions to be a nuisance to Villains. This felt like blatant racism as I wasn't given the opportunity to speak for myself. I was automatically wrong and was treated like I was less. This was the worst experience coming here. After letting my server know that I was being kicked out, she replied by saying "I was just joking, I didn't think you would really do it." WHO DOES THAT?!?!?!?!? I had just ordered a 2nd round of beers and the Ramses burrito, I was told to leave and I couldn't even enjoy my beer or my burrito. No, there was no offering to take anything home for this inconvenience. The host proceeded to tell me there was nothing he could. I am beyond upset with this experience, I feel like I was treated differently for the way I look, and will never return to this establishment. A manager that is incapable of properly leading his team and setting guidelines should have no place in this type of establishment. If I don't hear back from this establishment ASAP I will be seeking legal action as again I asked the team and server multiple times if my actions were okay. For a manager to approach me as Zach did and to touch me without even speaking to your team first just doesn't come across as a leader who knows what's going on. According to the Civil rights act of 1964 any form of discrimination is punishable by law, and I intend to hold this establishment responsible for this blatant act of racism. I was a respectful paying customer, but because of how I look I wasn't even allowed to defend myself, I will never return to this place and will no longer recommend it....
Read moreSUCH A GREAT EXPERIENCE AND EVENING!! There were about 8 of us in our party. We went on a whim to celebrate my son's friend getting married from the courthouse. He is in the Navy and leaves tomorrow. So time wasn't on their side and really just got married. So we went to Villains to celebrate! We are so glad we did. We were seated right away. Our waitress was amazing. She placed our drink/food order and the turn around time was fast. We got lucky... It happens to be taco Tuesday. The special is 3 TACOS and a beer/seltzer for 20.00. Such a great deal. The TACOS were so good. I had all 3 chicken, my husband had 1 of each.. Asda, chicken, pork bulgogi, and brisket. What a treat. Each taco is topped with their own garnish. TACOS are on flour mini tortillas stuffed with goodness and served on a mini sheet tray. Seated outside on comfy lounge type couches and tables with chairs. Don't worry if you get cold... they have heaters. There are so many seating areas. The drinks were amazing!!!! I had the mocha stout and it did not disappoint. I forgot to take a pretty picture of it when I got served. Darn.. just means I gotta go back for more. Everyone in our party had different drinks and we went around taking sips .. I'm telling you .. all the drinks were so good and reasonably priced. I decided to let our waitress know we were there celebrating a young couple that just got married and if the bar had anything for them to celebrate. To our surprise we were served shots on the house and mini champagne for us and the bride/groom got their own champagne 🥂 flutes. What a treat when the champagne came out the manager... "Man in charge" Chris came out to serve us and interacted with us. He wished the happy new couple his best and being that the groom is in the Navy, Chris extended his gratitude for his service. This place has all the best in service, food, comfort, drinks and decor. There are so many cool pieces of Villains and my favorite is the beautiful piece of Gwen Stefani. What a great way to pay tribute to the woman from Anaheim. Thank you Villains.... We DEFINITELY will be back! Chris you are definitely a gem. I feel bad for not getting our waitresses name... But she was amazing!!! Go check this place out!!! You will not be...
Read moreDog friendly but not the most dog friendly. The patio area was just dirt with some rocks that weren't raked well. We arrived shortly after they opened so it had to be that the night crew didn't pick up well. As soon as we sat down my dog found a half eaten chicken drumstick under the table we were sat at. Artificial turf or just plain concrete would be ideal for places that are dog friendly imo. The wait staff was very kind to our dog and weren't scared of her which is always appreciated since she's a sweet girl. They even gave us two hamburger patties free, I'm not sure if they normally charge or not.
There is a 3% service charge for being seated at a table, not sure if they would charge it still at a bar top.
The drinks were good, the food was good as well. We got the guacamole burger and the loaded brisket fries. The fries could have used more brisket but they tasted good.
We had a good experience, but there were a few things keeping from 5 stars: The staff weren't on top of keeping the water jug at our table full, after giving us our food it was nearly impossible to flag her down to get the bill, and when someone in our party had questions about the bill, the waitress rolled her eyes.
It's a personal pet peeve of mine when wait staff isn't on top of keeping water jugs filled especially at a place where they serve alcohol. (I'm more understanding with refilling individual cups, but a jug makes it so you don't have to come back as often and is easier to see from a distance if it's empty imo easy brownie points to keep it filled, especially with a service charge).
We were ready to leave and everyone was keeping an eye out for our waitress but she was refusing to look over at our table. Someone in our party stood up to go walk her down when she finally looked over. They take a credit card when you first sit down because they've had walk outs and I'm fairly certain the lack of attention is a contributing factor to that.
And the eye roll was...
