The Lemon Drop — Restaurant in Anderson

I have been to The Lemon Drop six times, and I will continue to go. The theme of this review is hot! I have set at the counter every time. I have ordered the same thing on every occasion: Onion burger with cheese and pickle and an order of fries. My experience has been consistent. The fries come out of the fryer and are served to me immediately (hot), the burger comes off the grill and is served to me immediately (hot); and they bring me piping hot water and a tea bag(s) for my drink. They let the customer put on the ketchup and mustard if they want it. They have squeeze bottles at the counter/tables. If a restaurant can get HOT food to the customer, they are over half the way to a positive review! On two occasions, I ordered the double onion burger. In both cases, it was hard to eat immediately because it was so hot. I like that kind of a problem! Having hot tea is a big deal to me, and most of the restaurants do a poor job in keeping me supplied. At The Lemon Drop, they give it to me promptly, it is extremely hot, and they are always checking to see if I need a second one. I have had three different servers, but the same quality customer experience; friendly, attentive, and prompt. I am always happy to give a 20% tip. I love the ambiance of The Lemon Drop. I feel like I am visiting small town America from the late 1950s. If you are planning to go for the first time, you need to know it is SMALL! The first time I went, it was full. O.M.G. Absolutely Fabulous little hamburger stand! The onion burger is 2 patties of beef with grilled onions in the middle; the double onion burger is 4 patties. And the onion burger is delicious and fresh and not all dried out like fast food burgers are. Cheese is optional along with lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, pickle, and onion. The fish dinner was also excellent. The 2 sides we chose was the salad and the onion rings. The salad was fresh and crisp and the onion rings were hot and golden brown! The dinner was served with fresh white bread and butter. The french fries were hot and delicious. The service was truly exceptional. I mean like WOW! Our server was friendly & attentive. She greeted us and answered our questions about the menu, and we mentioned that we heard that their onion burger was reported to be the best, and she explained what it was and what year it won awards. Our server kept our iced tea and waters filled, and was there when we needed this and that extra condiments. She took our orders without writing anything down and got it perfect. A basket of lemon drops was at the cash register and lemonade was behind the cash register. They only have unsweet iced tea, but it was brewed fresh and strong and sugar & sweet-n-low was brought as needed. So upon arrival, it smelled like fantastic food, this place was neat. A great feeling seeing a place so busy with people, walk through the door and I was greeted which is not everywhere and you just hear the sizzling of the burgers on the flat top!! I ordered an double onion burger and a couple cheeseburgers and a tenderloin breaded. So many people there to eat and the food just kept coming out. Bout as fast as the constant moving train on the inside of the restaurant. My order only cost me 25$, very reasonable price. My food was on time the time I was told and the customer service was great! I did oopsy as a first time lemon dropper, the double onion burger let me tell you that the onions are inside the actual burger and it is so hot and fresh "you will burn your mouth," I was told that after I took my onion burger back in and told them I didn't have no onion on it 😂😂, I felt like a first timer that's for sure, thanks for your help and can't wait to bring my kids and family back again!! 10 out of 10 on the burgers and the tenderloin, fresh ingredients and fresh and friendly smiles, food so good it makes your day better!!
