Curbin' Cuisine — Restaurant in Ankeny

I visited Curbine Cuisine with my family and ordered five meals, hoping for a good experience. Unfortunately, what we got instead was completely unacceptable. From the moment we placed our order, the staff gave us extreme attitude for no clear reason. It felt like we were bothering them just by being there.

There’s no excuse for such unprofessional behavior, especially when you're serving families or larger groups. We were polite and patient, yet met with rudeness and cold service. The food might have been decent (though nothing special), but the hostile attitude completely ruined the experience.

When I had politely attempted to voice my concerns to the manger on shift ( she told me her name was Amber ) she had made no attempt to hear my concerns nor did she attempt to turn the experience into a positive one. I used to work at 802 Chophouse for 6 years so I completely understand restaurant etiquette and I ensure every staff member I encounter at every restaurant I visit is met with kindness and gratitude. But this restaurant was just full of rudeness and hatred.

After leaving the restaurant I looked at the reviews and realized that this was a consistent pattern with the staff and even recognized that the owner Misty refuses to take accountability and instead deflects the issues onto the customer and claims that her restaurant wins awards and there for can not be anything but up to par, which is just not true from my experience and from the looks of it, others experiences as well

Service was quick and friendly. Food was okay, it was fun to have such unique menu items. There is a lot, LOT of topping and food. You get a lot for you money, but honestly it just weighed down the pizza way too much. I would rather have lower prices, with less food. It was just too much. I did enjoy the special pb&j fries. Crispy and hot. One thing that is a huge turn off, when I was looking at reviews, while eating, and any suggestion, negative comment has such clapback from the owner, like they will find anything to turn it around on you, and make it your fault. Sometimes people just give bad reviews, don’t need to try so hard to save face, that looks worse. I don’t put my name, because that’s my choice to keep it private. It makes the owner look worse. That is such a turnoff. I also feel like the motto, about feeling good/eating healthy is a marketing mistake. I work in kitchens, and I could tell which of my food was homemade, or from a can. It wasn’t super “healthy” so just don’t market it that way. They do have a few lighter options which is good, like salad and quinoa. Some of the decor is silly, like hobby lobby wall decor, but I really like the wall with the green and black logo. My thoughts were, this place needs to find a focus and stick with it. I stopped in for a take out order. I wasnt quite sure what u wanted and was going back and forth between different wraps. The lovely staff behind the counter was great with providing their suggestions and why. And let me tell you they did not disappoint. I got the Misty wrap, flash fried brussel sprouts and a half order of pb&j fries. First off the pesto on the Misty wrap truly makes this wrap soar. All the other ingredients were yummy, hot and fresh but that pesto stole the show. You can never go wrong with flash fried brussel sprouts. If you're going to eat your veggies you might as well add bacon and a garlic aioli. Perfectly cooked. Nice crisp and char but not under done. And lastly those fries. Most people know i hate French fries. That being said, these are absolutely perfection. Thin, light and crispy, a good texture, not soggy. And then you get this amazing sweet and salty, nutty umami mix between the thai peanut sauce and raspberry sauce. I had my concerns but i was wrong. These flavors paired perfectly.

If you haven't already i would highly recommend stopping in. The daily menu is constantly changing along side your regular favorites. Everything is always hot and fresh. The restaurant is clean and well maintained with a comfortable atmosphere. And the staff is very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. Do yourself and your tummy a favor and...
