First time in Ann arbor and if everyone treats you like scum the way the older server (@11pm 4/16/25) treated me will be my last. Apparently my attire wasnât to her liking because I immediately got an attitude from her when I walked in and she told the three ladies at the counter âI donât have the patience to deal with this tonightâ. Ignoring her statement because I didnât know she was referring to me when making them, I got a menu sat at a table order my food. Fleetwood is advertised as a 24 hr diner in a college town, i am an over the road trucker I wanted to relax eat my food and experience Ann Arbor night life before going back to my bed and breakfast. once i finished my meal and I noticed the diner getting busier, I told the lady Iâm goin to sit on the patio she said I have to pay first okay paid went on the patio with my coffee. Wasnât out there 2 mins before she came out to smoke glanced at me and said you canât drink that here!. Looking at the brown coffee cup and vape I replied saying the coffee? Then she proceeds to tell me my vape looks like a bottle of liquor and it was made to look like that. Laughed it off finished my coffee went back in sat down at a different table because someone was at the table I was previously sitting at, tried for atleast 15 minutes to get her attention to get a refill and another menu to order but she ignored me and walked past me and when she finally came to my table I guess in her hurry she didnât here me ask for another menu but when she returned she he had a Togo cup leaned in and told me I canât sit here and drink coffee and I have to go I told her the felon(overheard him tell someone that) sitting at the counter was doing the same and she didnât tell me that m. Ignoring her response because I knew she had an issue with me I poured the Togo coffee in the brown cup and went back on the patio. When the inside calmed back down I went to the counter asked for a menu and in front of another customer she told me I had to order to go and I canât keep ordering and walking in and out, me and the guy looked at each other shocked as to why sheâs speaking like this and I told her why I did what I did say down looked at the menu then she puts this sign over the menu saying âI can refuse service to anyoneâ followed by I will call the police. At that point I left walked back to my BaB and typed this up feeling disrespected and disappointed that lady in my eyes represent all...
Read moreTLDR: Manager cancelled our order, kicked us out, and called the cops on us after a customer harassed us and we stood up for ourselves. I came home for a weekend and was excited to go to Fleetwood and to show my boyfriend this Ann Arbor classic. Sadly, after this experience I will never return even though Iâve been going for years throughout high school and college. It was Halloween night and so my sister and I were in costumes. While we were waiting for our food, another customer continually harassed my sister, saying that she didnât want to see her costume. I changed seats with my sister after the customer asked us to so she âwouldnât have to look at herâ. She continued to bother us and as she was leaving, she came up to our table to say again how she didnât want to see my sisters costume. At this point I told the customer not to look and it was Halloween and my sister could wear whatever she wanted. This escalated and everyone around us started challenging the woman, also telling her she didnât have to look at us if she didnât want to. The woman began yelling that my sister was throwing it in her face which is the opposite of what we were doing as weâd even tried to move around to appease her. Then the manager (Iâm assuming) told us she was pulling our food ticket and we needed to get out since we had disrespected this older woman. We stood there asking what we had done wrong as the woman had been rude to us all night and the manager said she didnât need a reason to kick us out and she then called the cops. Multiple other customers tried to stand up for us but the manager didnât care about what had actually happened. We left and talked with the cops, who told us we hadnât done anything wrong. A waitress apologized to us and the cook actually came out and apologized and gave us our food to go. Iâve read through some of these other reviews and am seeing a similar message about this woman cussing out her customers and kicking people out for no reason. Iâm not sure if she owns this business or is just the manager but she obviously is not fit to run a restaurant professionally. Would not recommend Fleetwood as there are many other restaurants that treat their customers...
Read moreFleetwood Diner is a special place for me. Itâs part of what I consider to be âTrue Ann Arborâ. My partner and I have being going there for years infact I spent my 21st birthday there (which was ages ago but we shall not discuss that). After our most recent visit 3.30.19 for our friendâs going away party our night at Fleetwood started out like it normally would have. We were greated by the awesome waitstaff and started out just fine till a bunch of University of Michigan (yes I call out the UofM) students arrived and changed the whole atmosphere. Besides being rude and obnoxious towards the fellow patrons that were enjoying there evening there, they were slandering the waitstaff and were demeaning the waitress serving 15+ people. As someone who has worked in customer service I know what itâs like to serve the privileged University of Michigan students and itâs a true test of ones being. So after a long obnoxious scene from them we decided to scarf our meals and head up to pay our bills. During this time there was a rush of people ordering food and paying so we patiently waited. While waiting there were a group of what appeared to be University of Michigan students (White males) speaking poorly of the amazing waitstaff and were speaking many homophobic things in front of my partner and I. We embraced one another as we have the right to in public and the comments got way worse. To be discriminated against by students clearly representing The University of Michigan was horrible and made us feel so unsafe and insecure in a place weâve called âHomeâ for years. For the first time ever weâve considered leaving and that Ann Arbor is nothing but a false image created by the privileged for the privileged to feel like that are making a difference in the world. The scene tonight at Fleetwood was a clear sign that Ann Arbor and The University of Michigan have a front they are putting on and that the working class and people of different races, backgrounds, genders, and sexualities are not safe here. Wow what an occurrence to have happened at such a lovely...
