From the moment I arrived the Marriott experience was wonderful. I was greeted warmly at the front desk and told many things about the amenities at the hotel, she even came around the front desk to shake my hand and welcome me to Ann Arbor--I loved that! Now up to our room--The 6th floor suite was phenomenal, and the view was outstanding. I was totally blown away by how clean and orderly the room was upon my arrival. Normally when I am in town for Art Fair I stay at the Campus Inn, but I decided to try something new and give the Marriott a shot---and I am so thankful that I did!!!
As I said, the suite was amazing!! There were two TV's and the radio was also nice, it had the soothing sound options---i like the ocean breeze sound!! The furniture was comfy and cozy and the bed was sooooo nice!! The kitchen had a great stove, dishwasher and the refrigerator even had an ice maker!!! Loved it! Now to the bathroom---kudos to who ever designed the shower---because it was amazing!! Loved the layout of the bathroom and the entire suite---especially loved the Paul Mitchell soaps and shampoos!! The absolute best part of the suite was the windows and the view---AMAZING views of Ann Arbor from room 614!!
Once I unpacked I went downstairs and used the workout facility and the pool. I would have to say that when I booked my suite, the pool was one of my main reasons for staying at the hotel. I was in town for Art Fair, and the outside temperature was 95+ so needless to say I LOVED the pool. The music and ambiance of the pool area was amazing as well. The water was extremely clean and the water temp was perfect. The water was invigorating and relaxing---I loved to come back to the hotel and dive in.
Another great part of my stay was the 24 hour coffee bar provided by the hotel, and the complimentary breakfast was delicious. Normally i do not go to comped breakfasts, but I decided to try it and was delighted that I did. From tasty fresh fruits and yogurts, to scrambled eggs and waffles--english muffins and croissants----great job to the staff on providing such a healthful start to the day! The market was also a great touch to have at a suite hotel.
Everything was so wonderful that I decided to go online to Yelp and Hotel reviews and give this property a 5 Star rating and a great review! One of the best part of my stay was the staff--they were courteous, helpful, and always pleasant. I could not have asked for a better stay, THANK...
Read moreI checked in to the hotel after 7 pm on a Sunday. As I approached my room I noticed two ceiling tile areas open and pipes exposed nothing else around. I was notified via a note slipped under my door late afternoon early evening two days later. The note read that maintenance would be entering my room at some point the next day and that I would have no water service for the entire day at least a 6 hour window. I called the front desk to explain due to my health conditions and anxieties that this wouldn't work for me and that I didnt want anyone entering my room period. Amanda gave me a supervisor Markley I believe his name was and I began to explain why this was so upsetting to me and disruptive to my current health conditions. He kept trying to get me to use the pool bathrooms, or to have another room available for the day to use and i explained that was not agreeable for me to traipse my belongings to another room, re wipe it down due to covid and my health conditions. He never offered me a credit, he told me he would call his supervisor. He got back to me hours later and said that they wouldnt enter my room but, that the water would still be off all day. I asked for a credit due to that inconvenience for the lack of a toilet and shower I desperately need and I did get that though I must say he was not very nice over all and had not an ounce of compassion for my health being affected by all of this. And, i am sure that they knew that maintenance would be performing thus throughout the building to prevent pipes bursting as they said it was for that and yet they let me check in without even a nod to the fact that this was on the agenda. They should be informing guests and asking if it will be okay with them to stay in a place without water during their stay for a whole day before checking them in and telling them via a note under a door days later. Rude, disruptive, and inconsiderate not to mention during unprecedented times of COVID already adding stress to travelers and I will not being staying here ever again no matter the location and it’s...

The location is great, the staff at the front desk great. The rest was downhill from there. Dont count on getting quality food for your "included breakfast" and if it runs out before you get to it, oh well. Now to the real problems.
Room was ok with two major problems. First the televisions, the one in the "living area" had full array of internet tv options, Hulu, Netflix and so on. The one in the bedroom, only YouTube and Pandora? WHY? so stupid, when calling to ask about it we were told that is the way it is. Could we get it switched? NO we were told and they hung up. OK so if you want to watch anything on Netflix be prepared to do on the tiny uncomfortable couch only.
So after returning to our room at 11:30 we walked in to a dirty rooms still, thinking wow, they are really running late today. 5 Minutes later there is the knock on the door, "HOUSEKEEPING" Were they following us? NO we dont want our room cleaned while we are in it. We instructed them to come back in an hour as we were leaving again then for a while. We returned after 5pm and STILL nothing cleaned. We called to front desk and they transferred call to housekeeping and it just rang and rang and rang and.....so another call to front desk complaining they didnt answer so asked for a couple towels at least. Over and HOUR goes by and nothing still, another call to front desk demanding two towels so we can shower and get ready to go out to celebrate NYE and her 50th birthday. Finally we got the towels, without even an apology.
Then there was the main flaw which led us to call this the menopausal room. The furnace was on ALL the time, set temp at 68 and the heat was at full blast that made it so hot you couldn't breathe or the other option drop it to 67 and the AC kicks on and you just better bundle up. When asking about that, we were told to put on Auto, which it was and we told them so, we were then told that is how it works. For over $200 a night NO THANKS
also the charged me $25 just for using my American Express card and NEVER told...
