The description of the restaurant is almost correct. They give a decent portion, and it is definitely a relaxed atmosphere, but the reason for my two stars is their lack of personality, and half-committed service, also the fact that they can barely understand me. The two workers on the floor are always very kind, one of them being Vietnamese, the server, and the other of Latin decent, who was the food runner. However, the guy behind the counter, who appears to be the manager (at least I know he's the cashier), doesn't seem to care that he's working, or that you're even a customer.
When the waiter came up to take my order, I had to point at what I wanted cause the server didn't understand what numbers I was saying, nor could he understand what size I wanted, but at least he was kind and made sure my order was right. I usually like to say "no vegetable plate" (which has the bean-sprouts, mint, lime, and peppers) so they can save some of their product (since I never use it) but even with Google Translator, my message still wasn't clear. He took me to the guy up front so I could clarify, but when I approached him, he looked less than interested about my request. After I was told that it would be taken care of, they still brought it out. Whatever, not my loss.
Though the pho isn't the best, I still enjoy it and the quiet environment of the restaurant, but it really bothers me that, especially being a former server, I've never once had my cup of water refilled unless I walk up to the front and ask for another. The guy up front looked like he really didn't care, as his expression looked like he had no interest being there when I approached him the first time with my request, and I found him passed out on his chair when I went up the second time to pay. The server had to wake him up.
There are many other pho restaurants around it that I enjoy just as much, and as much as I hate to say it, I don't think I'll be returning to...
Read moreI don't usually give bad reviews but this place earns this one! My husband really wanted to try this place out so I decided to give it a go. The soup was pretty much bland and nothing special about it (and we eat pho on a regular basis). The customer service was beyond rude. When we ordered, my husband asked if we could have our bean sprouts steamed, and the guy kept going "Mhm. And then?" We tried to make sure he heard us the first time since I'm pregnant and can't eat raw bean sprouts, so we repeated what we said since he was mumbling. He then rudely said "I heard you the first time, I got it, AND THEN?" So I'm like ooookay.. and we looked past it. Another gentleman comes in and asks to be seated, and when he sits down at a table the same waiter didn't tell him to sit at you clearly see him rolling his eyes looking annoyed. I can already see how this place runs at this point. The icing on the cake was when I couldn't finish all of my pho and decided to take it home. My husband asks for a to- go container and the guy says, "I'm going to charge you $0.50 for it. Ok?" I mean really?? What restaurant charges for you to take your food home? It wasn't even about the money but more of the principle. You want to rip off your customers because if they can't finish their food they are forced to pay to take it home. And if they don't want to pay $0.50 for a container then they will leave wasted food. I used to own my own business so this is just beyond mind boggling and horrible business ethics. These guys need to take some Business 101 and fix their attitudes. I would rather give my money to Pho Cyclo down the street where they are extremely nice and the soup is...
Read moreI have eaten at this restaurant various times since living in Annandale, usually very goid, but lately I've noticed that certain ordered food items have been slack filled, for example the peanut sauce fir the spring rolls and when I asked the owner for more peanut sauce he told me that, "I had to finish the first peanut sauce before he would give me any more", that was the last time I ever ate in this restaurant.
I think it is overpriced and under serviced.
I've never ever had any restaurant tell me that I couldn't have more sauce for something that I was eating.
I noticed the table ahead of me ask for more onions & they brought him more rice by mistake.
Absolutely not enough parking.
Only 1 waitresss, never comes by your table to see if you need anything & yet expects a tip. I mostly tipped anyway because I...
