I recently visited Han Gang Restaurant in Washington DC, enticed by the rave reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected.
The moment I walked in, I began sneezing due to the dust in the air, which I realized was caused by their old carpet. If you suffer from dust allergies, you might want to avoid this place altogether.
As for the food, my party of four ordered a mix of BBQ, 냉면, 회무침, and 회덥밥. The BBQ was overpriced, especially given the mediocre side dishes that came with it. The 냉면 was just okay, nothing to write home about. But the biggest disappointment was the raw fish dishes—clearly, this restaurant has no idea how to handle 회 (raw fish). If you're a fan of sushi or raw fish, I highly recommend you skip these items.
Overall, the restaurant failed to meet expectations, and the dust made it an uncomfortable experience. Hopefully, they can improve both their food quality and their...
Read moreMy Korean family and I typically choose this establishment as our go to Korean restaurant. We ordered the prime beef assortment (12) and daegoo mori jjim (3). First, we had to request certain banchan as the restaurant does serve differently for American customers. When the daegoo mori jjim came out, we visibly notice the lack of gochugaru by the color making the dish bland. We requested the dish be sent back and I’m grateful they were able to satisfy us. The service given by the waitress seemed she lacked patience or couldn’t continue to serve us as if our requests were culpable. I mention this because were met with a new waitress who handled our grilling and overcooked, burned our “prime” steak after telling her it was ready.
The environment of the restaurant seemed a bit hostile after the request and lastly to finish it off the ceiling does drip water. After today, I don’t believe I will be dining here...
Read moreAs always, service was good and food was good. Han Gang was one of my father in law's favorite places to eat when we went to visit him in Fairfax. Since he passed almost 2 years ago, whenever we visit him at FF Memorial, we stop by one of his favorite places after to eat.
He liked Han Gang for the quality of the food. I personally like their Kalbi and Nyang Myun. This time, we ordered Kalbi, one regular size Hwi Nyang Myun and one small Bibim Nyang Myun. We also ordered fried dumplings and Mung bean pancakes for an appetizers. Fried dumplings were delicious but mung bean pancake (1) was soft and mushy inside instead of crispy outside and dense inside.
There were many well dressed senior groups eating when we went. My husband thinks Korean seniors are very picky about where they eat... which means Han Gang...
