So I want to preface this review by saying this place holds a special significance to us as it was the first place, our relationship really got serious. 2 years ago my friend at the time invited me to celebrate my birthday in September. She had heard about the formerly named Tuscan Prime (now cavalli's) as she saw the menu had items that I would like such as steaks and seafood.
This restaurant quickly became one of my top five favorite restaurants of that year and of all time. I enjoyed this establishment so much that I bought my family back as well as my now wife on numerous occasions.
Fast forward to today. 2 years later and my friend became my girlfriend then my fiance and now as of last month my wife!
We had been planning three major events in lieu of our wedding ceremony. Two of which were receptions for the wedding. One was for family and the other for friends. Now to the review and the reason why we decided to come here recently.
We decided that we had worked so hard on the receptions that it was time to reward ourselves with a "We did it dinner" to mark the completion of the planning /execution stage of all of the preparations.
We ended up coming here for lunch actually versus dinner as we had so many things to do before the next day, as this was the reception day.
I had noticed my favorite restaurant went by a different name but I did not let that dissuade me. I said seems interesting, let me see if change has impacted anything in terms of quality of food, service, or atmosphere. Atmosphere. I was also made aware that there had been some changes in October with the Management and now it was called Cavalli's.
We arrived and were seated promptly to a very familiar atmosphere. It looks just like we remembered but with a different entrance signage and a more Central focus on Italian dishes.
Parking: Still good, but we got lucky lucky that day and found street parking a few steps away from the restaurant.
Service: service was prompt and friendly. We had two servers as one was in training and the other was soft shadowing. Took our order and answered any questions. I had. One of the ladies was very honest when I asked for feedback on certain items which I appreciated. The other lady whose name I believe was Lee was also very helpful. All of our food arrived hot and fresh and they checked on our table periodically throughout our visit without having to be asked.
Atmosphere: The vibe here is still very much. The one I remember with subtle changes and still one of the coolest bathrooms I've ever seen! The ambient lighting and the cool decor. Beautiful pictures and mirrors all throughout is still a wonderful experience.
Food: food here still maintains the same level of quality I've come to expect, but there is something heightened about Italian dishes now. We got everything from seafood and steak with my surf and turf to drinks which I had two of strawberry Henny drink and a cucumber based drink. We also had delicious cheesesteak egg rolls for our appetizers and rounded out the night with a decadent creme brulee. Of which had a wonderful top layer and quality you could see with the vanilla being specs all throughout.
This for me was still a 10 out of 10 experience as I did not notice any degradation in service or quality and even the management is wonderful. Shout out to Josh who always makes himself available for any questions or concerns.
The name may have changed but their commitment to excellence has not, from the service to the food. Food this is still a top-tier experience for us and hope it will be for you as well! Definitely recommend checking this place out as they truly do aim to make sure the patrons here are well taken care of and really enjoy the level of quality they aim to bring even with new management. I will also say that we did make a reservation weeks in advance, just so you know you have that option.

My family planned a full day of surprises for my birthday yesterday. Our last stop was for what we hoped would be a wonderful dinner/experience. They researched restaurants and made reservations for Tuscan Prime because of all the great reviews. They were surprised to see a new name, but still expected a great experience. The inside was beautiful and upscale. That was the only highlight for me unfortunately. It was not busy at all, yet we sat at our table for almost 30 minutes with no acknowledgement of our existence from any employees, including the ones that walked by multiple times. We ordered drinks and water. No water came. The server didn’t know much about the menu so couldn’t answer most of our questions. I ordered the lobster. A bit later, the server came back to tell me they didn’t have lobster. Most restaurants have a list of what they are out of so guests can be made aware upfront. Not this restaurant. I settled for a lobster tail dinner served with pasta. There were 2 options: white wine butter sauce or spicy marinara. I ordered the white wine butter sauce. Our meals came out and my dish had red sauce. I tried the pasta and my fear of getting the wrong thing was confirmed. It was a while before we were checked on so I just ate some of the other meals at the table. I sent the dish back because it wasn’t the white wine butter sauce I ordered. Another several minutes later, the server came back with my original dish to tell me that the chef told her it was the white wine butter sauce! It was red sauce! White wine butter sauce has nothing red, OR SPICY, in it. I was not happy and ultimately refused the dish. I never even tried the lobster. By this point, the other meals were almost done so I didn’t order anything else. Reservations were made with a note that this was a birthday celebration. Not a word or happy birthday or anything that made me feel special. Quite the opposite. We didn’t order dessert and just wanted to get out of there. What a huge disappointment. I wasn’t going to let it ruin what was otherwise a perfect day, but I am upset at just how bad this experience was for me, especially on my birthday. My family put a lot of time, thought and planning into making my birthday epic and they were so unhappy that I wasn’t taken care of on such an important day. You can’t redo a birthday dinner. When you are charging $50 to $100 for entrees, you need to deliver excellent food and service fitting a fine dining restaurant. You failed on both fronts. I will most definitely NOT recommend and, at any opportunity, will advise people NOT to support...
Read moreCavalli in Annapolis exceeded all expectations! The front of house manager, Riley, greeted us with genuine warmth and professionalism, setting the tone for a memorable evening. Our waiter, Kris, was charismatic and impressively knowledgeable, offering thoughtful recommendations that made our meal truly special.
We started with the Tortelloni Piemontese—each handmade pasta parcel was perfectly al dente, filled with rich, savory flavors and elegantly plated. The Steak & Eggs was a standout: the steak was expertly cooked, tender and juicy, beautifully complemented by farm-fresh eggs and a vibrant presentation. The Pork Chop Cavalli was equally impressive, boasting a succulent, flavorful cut with a delicate balance of herbs and a visually stunning arrangement.
Every dish was not only exquisite in flavor but also artfully presented, showcasing Cavalli’s commitment to Italian culinary excellence. This was a dining experience to remember—highly recommended for anyone seeking top-tier Italian cuisine...
